What I miss about my old blackberry is the weight and the chunkiness of it.
so i have no problem with a fat blackberry and a heavy one at that lol.

You can still go back to your old BlackBerry if you like weight!

Personally, I feel like a bit of weight is going to make the device feel more premium. I'd rather that than a light plastic and flimsy feel all around.

I'm loving the weight of my Z30.
Feels as a really strong device and i do not like lightweight phones.
I'm always scared to drop those leightweights.

Ruslan said it felt good in her hands and I am sure it's weight will be fine Nice and sturdy not like a lady apple .
    Heavy does not mean sturdy..

But carbon fiber isn't used because it can mess with phone signal...
All those carbon fiber looks are glassfiber.

So which means, to make a strong phone they need to go to stainless steel which is not that light, but damn strong (passport).

You are right about carbon (i'm riding a carbon bike every day). But for phones it doesn't count

The thin and weight races are not for me . I know a lot of people fall for this non-sense though .
Give me a sturdy , quality built phone that handles well and I'm a buyer .

I definately prefer a heavier phone , IF the phones sports a battery that lasts for long .
NO iphone charge-me-every-few-hours crap for me !

Suppose I better send all my pants out to have the pockets reinforced. 177g, if that is truly the final weight, is a bit heavier than what one would expect in the final quarter of 2014.

I'll clarify: It is a bit heavier than what one would expect in the final quarter of 2014 with such a small screen.

That's actually a good thing makes it harder to drop. The Note for it's size doesn't really weight that much

For perspective, the Classic will be 1 1/3 ounces more than the Q10.

I've not read anything here, just the tittle but why on earth do people nowadays bother about a few grams? If it was 12.847.837,4 Tonnes yeah sure THAT'S heavy.. 177g??? Dude if even a newborn could lift that. Solid BlackBerry grams they are. Stop complaining, really...

Grams do matter on any device that is held and used by your fingers. Even a pen that is 10 grams heavier than a regular pen can be noticed and cause fatigue for heavy writers. Of course anyone can lift 177 grams but when you have to balance it on your fingertips, it can be an issue.

Same argument is discussed with wristwatches. Anybody can lift pounds of weight, but even a few ounces of extra weight can be felt on the wrist and make a timepiece uncomfortable to wear for long periods.

I like that the Classic is on the heavy side. Could get difficult to hold it steady while pounding out some emails if it was super light.

If its your daily driver (primary device) then this weight shouldnt matter at all. Its not that heavy, lol. But for a secondary device its weight is uncomfortable to handle at times.
