I seem to be starting to experience double typing on my device.

Currently still quite sporadic, but often enough to be noticeable. Also noticeable would be the insertion of periods (even when I have not double tapped space *it just happened once while I was typing this line*)

Not limited to any particular key, and I haven't been able to track during when or which app does it occur frequently. I think it does occur during whatsapp (can't avoid that, my whole country uses whatsapp primarily)

Given that it's not immediately repeatable with any key, I would have to conclude that it's most probably not a mechanical fault.

    Anyone experiencing similar issues?

Anything that you have done that has rectified the issue?

On a separate note my New York Times app keeps opening itself (I have switched off push notifications)

Not happening here. Granted, I don't use my Classic nearly as much as my Passport but I have no signs of it as if yet.

I haven't explored the q10 threads about the issue, but were they ever rectified?

I know double typing seemed pervasive for the Q10 and an intermittent issue for other keyboard devices. I wonder where the Classic's double typing issue will fall.

You would think they would have corrected this issue first before spitting out a new product

This just makes me want to leave BlackBerry as they didn't offer any help whatsoever with my double typing problem. I just hope they release a full touch that has better haardware than the Z30.

They didn't correct it prior to the Q10, and apparently it was a significant issue on the 9780.

But yeah, you would have thought...

Have been using my Classic for almost a month now exclusively and have not seen any indication of double typing or mis-behaving apps. only issue with mine is that I keep getting a notification to login into my Gmail account even though mail is working fine. I hope that you can find an answer for your issue.

Yeah I know I ran the risk of sounding like a fool when I posted that lol

No visible signs of damage on the exterior though.

I also wanted to hear from others if they had narrowed it down to a software problem (either from installing certain apps) or an OS thing.

I've had my Classic for almost three weeks, and the keyboard is great. I don't expect to have any issues any time soon. My 9900 started having a double typing issue with the letter "a" almost two years after using it. My Q10 started having double typing issues (random keys) less than a year after using it.

My brother's Q10 repeats the "k" just by gliding his thumb over the letter. I told him to be very careful when typing "When's the meeting?" because a triple kkk can accidentally be inserted in there. Lol

YES! Thats the sollution! (once again: thanks @ilmizi)
Repaired couple phones this way! BUT BE CAREFULL- on one Q10 I damaged the mic!! Otherwise its a perfect sollution for double typing issue and hypersesitive issue!

To others- Q10 started double typing after ca. 3 months of use.
Dhabrik said its repaired/better construct in the Classic so I hope he is right and yours OP is a one time issue device!

Yep no doubt on the higher quality construction.

Will bring it in for servicing once it poses a real problem.. no experience with cracking open my phone to check the innards

There is ONE user reporting upon double typing, and he admits to have dropped the phone before the problem occurred.
And instantly, there are some talking of 'leaving bb' and complaining about bb releasing a faulty product with old problems not corrected.

No issues here, using the Classic since day 1 of its release.

I just had my first double-typed letter, "a". Device is one week old. I'll keep a close eye on the situation. I thought we've been told this issue is fixed with the Classic? I hope it was only a one-time or at least very rare accidential input.

Have had the Classic for a few weeks now. I do occasionally get double typing. Mostly with the space key. But doesn't happen often enough to annoy me yet. But my Q10 started to develop problems the same way and it got worse over time. So I expect that I'll need to exchange the Classic at some point. I never dropped it either.
