I currently have an unlocked Passport on AT&T/Cricket and am going to have to switch over to Verizon due to business (unfortunately). I'm going to miss the Passport, that's for sure. What would you suggest as the best device for Verizon users: Classic or Z30? I've had the Z, loved it, but think I might miss the keyboard when I switch. Thoughts?

I have a Z30. That's the best on VZW. If you want a KB then your other choice is the Classic. Up to your preference.
BTW i have been a VZW customer for 32 years and counting.....

Thanks Jaydee. I've been a VZW customer off & on over the years. I always leave to try another service due to their high prices, but you can't beat the coverage. You wouldn't happen to know if the Passport will ever make its way to VZW, would you? If anyone would know, I'd think you would. Thanks...

I work there and as far as I'm aware, no. I've been hoping it will because I want one but as far as I've been able to find it isn't going to happen.

That's unfortunate. Hopefully, they'll come to their senses eventually.

That's how I got my current (and only) cell number. A landline for my first college apartment,.. back when getting a cellphone was not the obvious (or only plausible) thing that came to your mind when you realized you "needed a phone to order pizza."

One question I have to ask? Why do you have to change phones when changing carriers? Because their not unlocked?
Here in the Netherlands 95% of the phones are unlocked. So we don't have to change our phone when switching.

Verizon along with USCellular and I think Sprint don't allow phones not branded by them on their network. They are all CDMA carriers.

If you run a lot of android ports I'd suggest going Z30. Specs alone will show their true colors here. My classic tends struggle even with trivia crack while my Z30 eats right through it. If you want the physical keyboard it's a simple answer, but if there's more to the story it depends on usage. Heavy communication I again recommend the classic especially for call quality. Cannot go wrong with battery life for either and the added bonus of wireless charging. Both are fantastic and have served me well!
