Wi-Fi Frequent Disconnects on 9930
I was previously looking for the source of an intermittent internet connectivity problem (different thread) but recently noticed that the Wi-Fi section is frequently disconnecting. When interrupted surfing the web, I checked device status that found that even though I had both VZW and Wi-Fi on, BIS was shown as active on VZW (rather than Wi-Fi) and I watched as Wi-Fi disconnected and then reconnected, but BIS remained on VZW.
I turned off Wi-Fi and BIS still would not reestablish a connection. Wasn’t able to reboot the first time (device froze in the middle of the reboot), had to remove the battery.
I turned off VZW and in a few minutes BIS would reconnect via Wi-Fi. But then the BB Wi-Fi section would lose the signal and the BIS would take a few minutes (up to about 5 minutes sometimes) to reestablish a connection. Disconnection is happening with the device not moving, so there’s no radio propagation issues here.
Now it seems that Wi-Fi is still frequently disconnecting, and BIS is not reconnecting quickly at all, which renders the device useless for anything except phone calls. Wi-Fi coverage is not a problem here, since with a wireless G signal better than -60 dBm and no other devices disconnecting and reconnecting, this is the only device having issues.
Anyone else having difficulty with BIS and internet connectivity on the 9930? - 12-28-2012, 09:04 PM #2
I'm not having any problems at all, I would check the router you're using. have you added something in the house that use frequency? Like a new cordless phone, baby monitor, a garage door opener, microwave? Or It could be a close neighbor that's brodcasting the same frequency. I don't know really, I would look at trying to change the assigned channel of the router your using.
I had problems in the past using a D-Link router, everything wirless worked but my BB would always disconnect, went out and bought a different brand of router and boom workes like a charm since. - 12-29-2012, 07:44 AM #3
When I had that issue, it was due to a long password. I had the issue forever, until I changed passwords. I can reproduce the problem at will.
