Default Why would anyone get the other new BBs?

So it appears that next month will reveal the latest models of blackberry....

Why would anyone choose a non-9900 type phone? Are there any advantages to the other models?

I'm expecting answers with just a bit more specificity.

Like, "I'm not getting the 9900 because it ....." or "I'm getting the other blackberry because it ...."

I'll stick with the 9900. But I can see why others would like the bigger screen of the Torch 2 or the appeal of the all-touch screen devices. But I think that not having a keyboard would lessen the BB experiance, i.e. Shortcuts.

I can get an all touch BB and use my Pearl 9100 as a spare.

That makes sense. The torch 2 I can understand.

I suppose I'm thinking of the 9930 (Verizon), so the Torch is off my radar.

I like the Bold 9930 right now. But want to play with the new Torch as well. I am on a Style and my girlfriend has the Torch, and it is built very solid, and i like the big screen (think angry farm, videos, etc.) but the bold keyboard looks very nice. The style keyboard seems a bit small to me now. I like my old curve 8330 keyboard the best to be honest.

I'm game. I will be getting the 9930 but i can understand other's reasons for getting a 9810 or 9850/60. I am coming from the Storm series and the screen size is a definite plus. I feel the higher resolution of the 9930 will help compensate for a smaller screen size but I have been tempted by 9850 no question. I never had the privy of using the 9000 keyboard as I am a big red guy but after using my girlfriends 9650 I fell in love with the bb keyboard. Can't wait to use an even wider one on the 9930. The 9810 gives you the benefit of the large screen and a good keyboard. The 9850/60 gives you the big screen in a slim form factor. There is a reason for being so many phone form factors. Everyone has their own preferences and shouldn't be knocked for choosing something other than your own preference.

Reasons to not get the 99XX are the same as reasons to get it:

Keyboard: maybe a user doesn't like the larger keyboard, thus leaving the 9810, 9790, 9350, all of which ALSO have different keyboards.

Screen Size: the 9810, and 9850/60 will all have much larger screens and give more of a media user experience

Device size, though this will be the thinnest blackberry, the sheer size of the device could go against you, the fact RIM has been doing the "Pearl form factor" since 2004 (7100v) says people have liked that form factor and thus wouldn't want the 9900

Price Point: This device will cost more than the 9350, and that could be an issue for many who buy their devices off contract

The screen is awesome. You need to see it in real life to appreciate it. It's effing huge. And crisp. And awesome. /drool

To the OP, I will be getting the full touch BB, because I have grown fond of typing on the virtual keyboard, and can type much, much faster on my iPhone4 than on my 9000. Sacrificing the screen size for a physical keyboard is not worth it to me.

I need a keyboard since I have always loathed typing on my iPod and probably won`t like it on my soon to com BlackBerry Playbook!

Hmm, I don't think you will be too disappointed. I'm assuming you have larger-than-average hands since you find typing on the iPod cumbersome, and this will be perfect for the Playbook. I'm 6'4" and so naturally I have large hands, and I could easily thumb type in Landscape when I had my Playbook. The buttons are large so it is easy to type accurately, and the device is just wide enough so that it is not uncomfortable to type with just your thumbs.

Verizon will be getting the torch as well. Not the one with the keyboard but rather the "torch" that is comparable to the next storm

I will definitely be getting the Torch 2..just my preference..and I'm also a huge Bold fan..but I think the Torch is best of both worlds..in my opinion.

I'm going with the Torch 2 (9810) as well. Larger screen means not having to carry my glasses around all the time. That said, the 99xx phones do look to be pretty awesome!

If the Torch slider came to Verizon, I'd be all over it. I have the same vision problems now that I am in my 40's. The far sightedness hit me rather suddenly two years ago.... luckily, these phones (and computers) zoom easily.

T2 if it was on anyone but att. So probably the 9860 or most likely the 9900.

Will probably get the 9860 for wife and 9900 for myself.

still deciding between 9900 and 9860 (full touch screen). I really want to see the 9900 and 9860 side by side before I decide. I do have the Playbook now for my media experience / full touch screen desires, so right now I'm slightly leaning more towards the 9900. I know I can type faster on the physical keyboard, especially one as good looking as the 9900s (can't wait to hold this thing, sounds like a great experience, lol)

I just don't want to miss out on any good-looking apps that really take advantage of the 9860s full screen (like a nice GPS app or even running blackberry traffic on it), so I'm REALLY torn on what to do.

I don't really see the appeal of a touch screen only BB. I would just buy an iPhone if I wanted to type on glass.

the keyboard isn't the only thing that keeps some of us here. I have a 9800 now and I'd say my time between the physical keyboard and the touch screen keyboard is 50/50 . Some of us may be comfortable enough to transition away from the physical keyboard since RIMs touchscreen keyboard is decent (and can only get better I think with a much bigger screen like the 9860).

From what is being said by people who have used the new virtual keyboard, RIM did a very good job with it. Comparable to the iDevices
