I bought unused but second hand (and I can return it) a bold 9900.

I'm trying to update to 7.1 but it's telling me I'm the most up to date (its 7.0 bundle 2406)

It's a Canada Rogers phone but I've unlocked it and have a Telus SIM in it.

When I check out my particulars with Telus it says the handset is

    BLACKBERRY 9900 CPP SALES DEMO

Does this mean the phone is not upgradeable in the OS or do i just have to wait for the Rogers official update.

    It means......... nothing.

Install the updates yourself using desktop manager / app loader.

    OS: http://crackberry.com/blackberry-os

The device you have was clearly owned by a sales rep and was marked not for retail but internal use, it has nothing to do with the OS.

    Thanks.

Could the unlocking a Rogers' device and running it on Telus make Telus call it that because it's not on their books as one of theirs?

Unfortunately the most updated Rogers version is 7.0 so it won't allow for an official update.

So like Bla1ze already stated: install an OS that's not from Roger. If you follow the instructions you will be alright. It will not matter for your phone. It will function the same.

If you don't already have DM installed on your PC, do so. Make sure it's talking to the phone properly. Download .342 from cellcom wireless israel or telenor, install it on your PC. You can either manually remove the vendor files or use a tool like bbhtool to shrink the os and remove the vendor files. After that, start DM with your phone connected and it should do the update.
