- I'm using the RIM desktop cradle, and for the first few weeks the BB was not vibrating while in the cradle. I have not changed anything, but all of a sudden the phone decided to start vibrating while in the cradle. The phone still automatically shows the clock and starts charging, and it appears to know not to go into bedside mode, but I can't find any options to enable or disable to stop it from vibrating. I changed the vibration settings for all alerts in the profile from 'All' to 'Out of Holster' but that has not stopped it.
Conclusion: The conclusion by RIM is that the one and only charging pod being sold for the 9930 is not a "smart accessory" and thus cannot communicate with the phone in a manner which allows a profile to be created. That model, which does not exist, would obviously cost more than the $40(!!!) they get for this "dumb" plastic stand with a USB port.Last edited by ChilledBB; 01-26-12 at 12:39 PM.
01-25-12 11:32 AMLike 0 - I triple checked, nothing has changed. I'd like to just set it so that when in the cradle it doesn't vibrate, which is the way it was behaving before. It appears that there is no way to set up a different profile for cradle charging, unlike bed-mode, so whatever profile you have enabled while it's in your pocket would need to be manually changed before placing it in the cradle. Is that correct?01-25-12 01:50 PMLike 0
- The out of holster option wouldn't apply to the charging cradle. It senses in or out of holster with the magnet in the oem holster and of course the charging cradle doesn't have that. Go to options - device - smart accessories - simple charger. You can set up a profile to activate upon docking. I love that and the car dock feature - it opens telenav as soon as I dock it in my car proclip mount with power.
I'm guessing you recently upgraded to 7.1? I don't think the smart dock options were in .374. Not sure though.

Not sure, but I never noticed until I upgraded to 7.1 over the weekend. Nothing to do with NFC. At least, I'm assuming since I've never even turned NFC on. On tapatalk so I don't know what carrier/os you're running. I'm on vzw 7.1.

Actually, I think I'll give RIM a call. I pay them enough for that support contract I hardly use.01-25-12 03:35 PMLike 0 - BES rep pointed me to KB15519, otherwise known as Turn on and set Bedside Mode in the Clock application, by hand. That is the RIM solution.
How was it working before. I'm starting to think it might have never worked in the cradle, and I'm remembering it working before I used the cradle, when I used to plug it in via the USB port which did enable bedside mode.Last edited by ChilledBB; 01-25-12 at 04:05 PM.
01-25-12 04:01 PMLike 0 - I never discovered these smart accessories options until I upgraded to 7.1 and the first time I docked in my car Telenav launched. Made me curious why, so I started digging and found these options. Here's the BB article on it below.... Mine never prompted me to select any action - it just started doing it and I can't find out how to manually add a new profile for dock options, but now that I have those two choices, I can edit them both to select what actions to take and what profile to use. It can also toggle BT, wifi and mobile network automatically, so I have it set to disable wifi and enable BT when I dock in the car. It's awesome, but no idea how to help you get them set up.

Do you have NFC turned on?01-26-12 01:02 PMLike 0 - Nope, NFC is off. Here's the mount (remember, if you decide to get this, you also need the car mount part. Its a two part solution).

I just got a reply from proclip saying they are provided access to BB engineers and this mount is certified "Built for Blackberry" and confirmed they designed the mount to work as a Smart Accessory.

- New twist on the Smart Accessories option. I have Simple Charger and Car Dock listed, but when I plug into my proclip car mount, it actually activates the Simple Charger profile, not the Car Dock profile. I've tried plugging everything I have into this 9930 and have no idea what the Car Dock profile was set up for. This is nuts that there is such a useful feature and many of you can't even get it to work. I would delete both of my Smart Accessory profiles but I'm afraid it wouldn't set up a new profile in the car mount and I'd lose all the functionality.
