Odd that this is the first vzw BB OS I've seen that came from blackberry.com instead of vzw.smithmicro.com.

OS 7.1.0.580 from Verizon
Hi All
Already downloaded the Sprint version last week since I had no idea of when Verizon would finally pull the trigger. deleted vendor.xml file as usual and this OS is running great so I have no need to download the Verizon flavor this week.
Observations after a week of use. Absolutely loving application resource monitor. Have it set to automatically shut down resource hogs. Biggest memory leak offenders so far are Vlingo - compliments of BlackBerry and the Overdrive (e-reader) app. I was surprised
about Vlingo and anticipated better use of resources, but after a battery pull, the application resource manager usually closes down that app within an hour because it is consuming too many resources. It is nice to know where my memory issues had been coming from. I would love to see a reporting option added to the application resource monitor so that the community could assist in identifying poorly written apps so that the author would be notified and would hopefully work to solve those issues for future releases.
Generally, even a week out after several battery pulls to settle down the system, this is much snappier than prior OS and radio seems stronger, even in my "low bars" location
Compared to OS 7.1.0.402, I have not experienced the temporary screen lock-ups and pauses that happened all the time when navigating the 9930 and during internet browsing. That situation was starting to get annoying and I was getting ready to downgrade back to .342 when .580 was released and I was happy to move forward instead of moving backward.
All in all, this is a great build that will keep me happy until all of the goodies that we are expecting from BB10 in 2013.
Does anyone else feel as I do that vs. .580 is the best OS so far this year for their 9930?
Cheers

Absolutely agree, I've been running .580 for a week. It's snappy, radio is strong and the battery drain is only 1.9% per hour. So far it's the best I've seen.

mine is finally finished - running smooth!

I finished my install. Here is what I have noticed. After the first attempt at download all is good. I had to change a few app settings. That was it. I still am waiting for Gold Thumb to send me my password stuff. I am glad to have the privacy features and battery saving mode. My phone seems faster and all is good. I gained some storage space...very cool. I was nervous for this process. In the end VERY COOL. Thank you VZW. Oh and I got my case from Crackberry. I did have a Berry day. If you haven't download this and are VZW jump in.

I just updated my 9930 with sprint's .580 three days ago because verizon wasn't releasing their official update. I guess I'll have to update again with verizon's now.
Can someone confirm if multi-language has korean on it?
edit: I was confused because the .580 for sprint had multi and all language. I figured out multi does include the other languages.Last edited by cw0974; 08-03-2012 at 10:12 PM. Reason: figured out my question
