My wifes company just gave her a new z10 and her old 'phone is up for grabs. I'd like to use it on t- mobile but the guy in the store said it won't work well. What do you guys think ? should I jump from Boost?

I don't know the frequencies off-hand, but I know that it is a world phone, so if it's unlocked just pop your sim card in and see what happens. You may not get the fastest data speeds, but I bet you'll get some kind of service

Verizon uses the CMDA frequency band and so does Sprint. T-Mobile uses GSM, so does AT&T. I know for a fact T-Mobile and AT&T phones can swap companies, Verizon and Sprint phones can swap. It might not work with Verizon phone going to T-Mobile but try it. Please let us know if it works.

It's a "world phone". It has a slot for a sim card for when you travel out of the country.

Here are the frequencies it supports:

Yup, looks like you'll get 2G and 3G on T-Mobile

Yes, you can use the Verizon 9930 on TMO, but only on 2G and only if it's unlocked. The phone does not have North American 3G (UMTS) bands.

Are you sure? It looks like it supports 900 and 2100. I thought u read that TMO uses one of those for 3G

TMO uses 1700/2100 for 3G, which is band 4, whereas just 2100 is band 1. The 2100 in band 4 is the coupled downlink for 1700, which is the uplink frequency. So, at best, a person with a Verizon 9930 may "see" the TMO 3G network, but not be able to get on it because of the missing uplink frequency.

Just to be clear (because I'm speaking from experience not speculation like the others)

You will be able to unlock this device (on ebay it's 99 cents) and you will be able to use it just fine.
and get FULL HSPA+ (as in the thing they call 4G)

You are fine. Also remember that T-mobile now uses some of AT&T's bands thanks to the merger fail. so you'll get full 4G in most places.

    Enjoy your phone.
