Upgraded to 7.1.0.205
And got a 507 error during the process. I finally got it to load but have lost all my apps that I had when RIM was giving away free apps in December, specifically Shazam Encore. Any way to get it back without paying? I did a full backup on DM prior to but I don't think this will restore an app that you now have to pay for. Any advice?

Not so rare an issue with upgrades but AW and MobiHand both allow reinstall for free. BellShare and others allow downloads from th respective websites. Then use original registration code to reload.

My 7.1.0.205 update just finished without any problems. Phew !
I will read the posts to see what the updates / differences are, other than the obvious.
Mobile hotspot looks cool. I don't know the deal with Vodafone UK and hotspot though. - 01-20-2012, 04:13 PM #6

I installed this a few hours ago and my discharge rate for battery is between 6-8. Does this settle down over time, and if so, why?

A huge discharge rate is normal the first hour after an update but it quickly settle down after a complète drain and a long and full charge, from my expérience. The first day running this OS Was already better than my first hours on 7.0 builds, like I said in an other post, except maybe the weird draining who brought me 15 % of battery to 0 in 2 minutes. But after a full charge and an hard reset, I can tell you than the battery life and the générals specs of this OS are much better than the previous I tried.

Happened to me. Switched Norton off and then installed using Apploader, got a 507 error. Then plugged the wire out and back in again and opened bb desktop manager. It's going to tell you something about the software problem, click update and you'll see the 7.1 file there. Hope it helps.

9900/7.1.0.205
1. I downloaded the installer file from Fileserve
2. Installed it on pc
3. Used BBOSS to shrink out unwanted stuff
4. Fired up the loader.exe
5. Further removed PLANS app and other unwanted stuff from the choice menu
6. Chose to backup full data and restore
7. Installed OS. (Finished in about 18 minutes)
8. Unplugged after safe removal USB in Windows
9. Did a battery pull and reboot
10. Woaaaaaah!!!!! I'm loving it.
Battery is holding good.
Lasted me about 14 hours on my moderately heavy use.
Last 3 days I have been on this 9900/7.1.0.205 build, it was the same.
Mobile hotspot is awesome. I connected other phones and even my laptop thru it.
The interface feels a bit slick and snappier than 7.0.0.503 (maybe just a good feeling).
The browser is faster.
NFC tag on ВВМ is yet to be tried.
Overall, I am very very happy.
For all those who are still waiting for it to be official, I would suggest you to keep waiting if that gives you any secure feeling.
Else, you should update to this version ASAP.
