I just noticed about 20 minutes ago that when I'm in the call screen or pictures folder I have the "unseen" messages indicator up on the top of my screen. No new app installs and I don't have anything but the official OS installed. Already I have done a restart via battery pull AND quickpull coming up with the same issue. Any ideas? Also, the 3rd picture is to show that I actually have no control unread messages..

Looks like a spam ad in the second pic. That is usually caused by an app.

Are you running a third party theme that doesn’t have an interactive notification bar?

Switch to default theme.

I had a similar experience with one particular theme. When I switched to a default layout theme, all of my missed calls were piled high.

This could be your problem.

Using the default vzw theme and no 3rd party apps running at all. It's weird..

See if there is an unread message anywhere in your message folder, even check saved messages.

Apps don't need to be running to pull spam to your phone. They just need to be installed. Any apps by Jared Co will spam you.
