Trackpad squeal, store won't take it back beacuse its used and unlocked
So my trackpad is squealing when I push it to do a function, is there anyway to fix this, without being able to exchange the phone.

LOL, squeaking like a so-so built piece of hardware, like the trackpad rubs against the side key, it only does it on the right side of the trackpad when you press it in.

Perhaps you can have them change the trackpad and pay for it?

It'll probably wear with use and stop making the noise. Give it a few thousand pushes.

I'm really hoping it will wear in over time, like the keys on my 9700 were VERY stiff when I first got it but it eventually wore it and they didn't make much of a clicking noise over time (I liked that), hoping that happens the same for the squeaking trackpad on this 9900.

So should I drink 8 redbulls, 3 5 hour energys and get a sugar high and just start clicking away? LOL

Wait a little bit longer and you can get spare parts here at cnn.cn they sell all OEM spare parts I will say the 9900/9930 is listed but no parts are available yet.
I have purchased parts in the past when I opened up my old Bold 9000 (I wanted the keyboard with the red numbers on them) and my 8830 and 8820 etc. Ships directly from Hong Kong, make sure you order the hex tool(s) and other little tools too.Twitter: RaptorOO7
I tried to remember my mobile device history and realized I have had way too many to remember them all. - 08-16-2011, 11:06 PM #15
This squeaky trackpad definitely seems to be an issue. My squeak/creak was terrible and I exchanged it the second day for a new unit which is much better.

It must not be as bad as some of ours then. If you push it down while also kinda pushing/sliding to the right do you feel it at all or is it fully gone?
I have tried pushing it repeatedly like you stated multiple times with no luck.. Hopefully this replacement doesn't have the same problem though.Developer of "Web Design Cheat Sheet" for BlackBerry 10 using Native Cascades:

i have the same problem, but it squeaks when i scroll up...it seems to go away if i click it pretty hard, but eventually it will come back..... i guess i'lll survive..
does anyone think i should bring it back due to possible future failure or just stick it out? - 08-19-2011, 05:53 PM #23
Why settle with the fact that they sent you a broken device? I say get a new one shipped to you while its still under that week warrenty or however it is. Up to you though, not like you'd have to go without your phone for any number of days as they send you the replacement and you transfer your stuff over then send your broken one back. Up to you though

I did see on a different thread that someone said they had a small trackpad problem like yours or mine and then it eventually led to his trackpad completely breaking. Who knows for sure though :/

I got it from bestbuy mobilty in store. My second unit seems to be squeaking a bit when I press down on the pad to select. But my first one was much worse and squeaked so loud when I would just scroll up and down.

When I got mine in the mail on Friday I noticed the top edge of my trackpad felt like it was sticking up a hair higher than it should have been. Couldn't tell by looking at it but scrolling down the edge would kind of catch your finger. Called Verizon and having a new one sent. After a day of use I have developed/noticed the trackpad squeak when clicking.
Hope the new one doesn't have the issue.
