| | The @)&$@ touchscreen!!! Turn it off!
Moved from a 9000 to a 9900, on top of software not compatible issues, how do you hold and manage this phone? There's no way to handle it without having the screen thinking you want to activate this and that.
Should be a button to turn off the touch screen so, we, the user and OWNER decide when we actually want to use the touch screen.. I'm getting scrared to hold it, there'is no way i can use it without having to unlock the touchscreen, taking in and out of the holder, even when locked, when a message comes in, taking it out unlocks it and open de message, generating touch on the screen and going left and right, calling people,etc... Who decided to open the message automatically? I just want to see under which email icon i have new messages, not top open them now! Very weird all those assumption forced to the customers... A second hand 9000 might be a better solution, or a phone from...
Very annoying... Things are suppose to get better, not worst, and it's the customer who decide... See the blackberry sales? There you go and understand... Stop being "tecky" and be more business oriented... Understand the real world/customers...
Anyway... Trying to get used to this beast... Looking for software upgrades and finnaly OS 7 stuff... Just wanted a Blackberry, not a toy...
Question is, do you think it should be up to YOU, the owner of the phone, to decide when to have the touchscreen feature ON and OFF???
Good luck
Ps written from my iPad 2 :-)

1. you can switch off auto open message automatically....
Ans: Home Screen>>Messages>>choose options once BB key is pressed in messages>>Message Display and Options>>scroll down and select Never in "Auto Open Newest Message After Removing Device From Holster"
..............
I seriously believe to have some option inwhere Touchscreen can be disabled.
this will save battery and accidental touch.

I've got a holster without a magnet...And I actually prefer that because it reduces the number of things the phone responds to. When I holster my phone or put it in my pocket, I automatically hit the button at the top of the phone to lock the screen. Since I use a headset, I can still make and receive calls using voice dialing and start/pause the music. If I need to do something else, I pull out the phone and hit the lock button. Simple. No issues here. Maybe the OP just needs some time to get used to it.

When I had a non-touch screen BB, I didn't put my fingers on the screen when holding it, so I never had an issue with the 9930 and doing the same thing.

I have no issues with hitting things by accident on the screen. I think the touchscreen along with the keyboard is the best of both worlds.

I don't ever hold my phone by the screen.
Seriously if you don't want to use the touchscreen don't touch it.
And by the way.....reading all the other digs you threw into the mix, I wonder what the real purpose of the post was. My favourite was the "toy" reference. This, to a device that is anything but.
The whole thing seems a bit disingenuous to me.

Given the amount of typos it just shows how bad the iPad keyboard is.
I can safely say I have experienced NONE of the "issues" you rant about, sorry mention.
I think this is much more operator error than any issue with the device. I love my 9900, best phone I have had ever.

It is YOU that have a problem. Read all the posts here and see how many have this problem and take it as a hint! |

nah i don't see a problem here, it's YOU that are having the problem with it.
there are many work arounds, not touching the screen etc, though it would be good,
to have a ON/OFF option, but i don't find it's actually needed.
when you know how to use the device it's ok, well if you have that spastic finger &
mind play then i don't know. you can't actually call it a real problem though.

I never have had this problem. I love the touchscreen on the device.
If you don't want a touchscreen and want a old school business only device just get a 9780 or 9650... They are great devices that will do everything YOU need. Blackberry sales have been going down because there are LESS people like YOU and more people who want the iPhone/Android life which Blackberry is trying to get closer to.
I tried to read your post, but I honestly just couldn't understand the grammar at all... I just assume that you don't know English very well (which isn't your fault, I just assume it isn't your first language). But please try and make your posts legible...
