Tired of battery door scratches
Was tired of the scratches on my battery door so experimented with plastidip. Was more than happy with the turnout has like a rubbery no slip feeling. Matches the look and feel of the sides of the phone and best of all easily comes off if you decide you dont want it. Going to see how it holds up with normal use

I will try this too... - 05-22-2012, 12:56 AM #3
plastidip is good stuff. I painted some wrought iron lawn furniture with it last week. made it look like new. never thought to use it on a blackberry. but yeah.. makes sense.

Matted backdoor is better than glossy.
It will give better grip also. - 05-22-2012, 01:07 AM #5
Looks really nice. What a great idea!

You said it comes off easily if you don't want it. I am curious to see how well it works over time. Keep us updated on how it holds up.
Be the change you want to see. - 05-22-2012, 07:23 AM #9
Looks good, interesting idea. I must be among the few, because I like the "glossy" back, but for the most part my 9930 is in a Otterbox. Maybe I will try this method with the Otterbox and it's slippery feel

I did have a zagg full body with the door and camera spot covered. The rubery feel made me miss the sleek back of the 9900. I'm all naked now! Lol

Mine has plenty of scratches, I haven't complained since. It sits on my desk when i'm at a computer, in the holster the majority of the day until it's used and also, sometimes it sits on the keyboard i'm playing.

That actually looks decent

I actually did the same thing this past spring with plasticDip. The problem is, it does start to wear off/peel off of over time. Also, considering that this material comes out of a spray can, and the side of the can states as much, this material is carsogenic (a.k.a. cancer causing). The last thing I need is for carsonogenic bits and pieces of this stuff flaking off in my pocket, onto my hands, and in my eyes, mouth, or my home.
But, I agree with the OP that this does create a fantastic level of grip for the battery door. It's just too bad it doesn't hold up over time.
