I can set the Date, Time, and Time Zone on my very newly acquired Blackberry 9900, but under that setting area there shows an area wherein are Network Time and Network Date. But the time shown is wrong and the date shown is in January 2013 !

Is this important and how do I fix it if it needs fixing ?

In date and time settings , make sure update time is set to automatic.

    Thanks, I'll try that.
After setting the Date/Time yesterday it is correct today - BUT the "Network Time" and "Network Date" still show a wrong time and a date in 2013.

Question on the Bold 9930? Is it a good phone to get at this time? Waiting for Classic, but I am also getting tired of the wait. Wondering if there will still be update? Since Verizon is still selling. Do not care on 4g since I do not download much. Any advice is appreciated.

Well at least they are cheap - you can find a new/unused one for under 150 - good used ones for a lot less. You may need a SIM with a BIS facility to get the special BB features.

FYI... I just got a brand new 9930 from eBay for $105 last week and added it to my existing Verizon shared plan for $15 per month without contract. The best part is the line is eligible for discounted upgrade right away, so once the Classic comes I can either upgrade with contract or pay full price and still pay $15/month for the line.

Its a lot cheaper waiting for 6-12 months, instead of being an early adopter !

That seems to have fixed my problem - thanks indeed. I also was able to download a detailed pdf format instruction manual.

However I have noticed that removing the battery for even a few moments causes the time to go wrong.
