I use a small bottle of black automotive touchup paint. Apply with a toothpick and let it dry for an hour or so.

I use a gloss black from General Motors, but I imagine that any black auto paint would work. I used that only because it was handy one time when I needed to cover one of my 9650 keys. Before that, I used black paint for plastic models (the little square glass bottles) that I bought in a hobby store. That works too. Make sure that you get a true gloss black and apply it with the tip of a toothpick. If you are careful, you'll have to hold the phone in the light at just the right angle to see the repair.

It will vary. The plastic model paint that I have used has a "Testor" label. The "gloss" refers to the high-gloss (shiny) finish for the paint. The auto touch-up paint will be whatever you can get at the car dealer.

It doesn't become loose if you use OEM parts... and fit them properly.

No, it is not an identical, perfect match. However, it is more than adequate. If you want the keyboard to look like new, then your only option is to install a new keyboard.
