You dropped your phone. You only said it was damaged in your original post. How it got that way was unclear....so now, knowing this, its an insurance claim. What you did afterwards is irrelevant. Do you have insurance? If yes then call it in and tell them you dropped it.
Lost, stolen or accidentally damaged device. That's the deal.
