    Default screen unresponsive when flat

My bold 9900 screen is completely unresponsive when flat on a table, which is irritating to have to hold it up all the time, especially for long periods of use.

What is going on?! It's been happening since I can remember but now I'm fed up.

And DON'T tell me to pull the damn battery. I've done that a hundred times for so many issues. I've pulled the battery so many times the damn battery door doesn't latch well anymore (after only two months of use). If I hear that phrase one more time I might just break it in half. It does NOT fix the problem.

I also know that it isn't JUST me, because I've found other bb users with the same issue, yet no one seems to have solved it.

    Thoughts?

Edit: trackball and keyboard function when flat, it's just touch response that goes dead.

This has been reported many times and I am not sure if ever resolved. Some devices work and othesr do not when on a table.

I found if you hold a finger against the metal body of the phone, the screen will then work perfectly fine.

It needs an electrical ground source for the capacitive touch screen to work. Some surfaces do not work as a ground, especially if in a case. As posted above, just touch the phone elsewhere with another finger or part of your hand to create the ground source.

    HUH?

If my touch screen ever quit working I would be getting a warranty replacement.

They only time it won't work is when you are touching the screen on a flat surface while wearing rubber gloves. But if you are in contact with the bezel, the touch screen will work; even with rubber gloves.

I notice this on my phone as well.
When I plug my phone to charge with an older BB charger, the screen would go crazy when I try to tap the screen.
