I bought a Sandisk Ultra 64GB microsd; however, it didn't work on my 9900, while the same card works flawlessly on my 3-year-older HTC Magic/G2 and Nokia E71 and E5-00.

Can you expect such a company still has innovation?

    Very frustrated and disappointed.

32GB max and this is clearly stated in the manual

    Supported media cards
Your BlackBerry smartphone supports media card sizes up to 32 GB. Only microSD media cards are supported.

I was fully aware none of those phones I owned supported 64GB card officially; however, I was quite surprised that older phones even took 64gb card while the flagship up-to-date didn't.
I don't have any loss because I can either use this card on other phones or return to retailer while RIM will lose customers eventually.

I think he's saying that even though 32gb is listed at max some other devices have had 64gb work.

For example: galaxy s3 says 32gb max but 64gb works...

I can't explain it.... but it does and I think the OP was expecting this.

Why do you guys have to get this defensive, why care its just RIM lol.

Well it would be like buying a car with a top speed of 80mph, and hoping it would do 100mph. Then blaming the manufacturer! Only be disappointed when it doesnt do the things it should, not the things you expect!

Speaking of mircoSD cards...will the BB10 have a 16 GB internal and a 64GB microSd limit on the external slot?

OP. its all based ont he chipset used within the card. some cards will work at 64gb in 9900 others wont.

now with older phones android usually doesn't have a max limit as its not coded in to read a max because when they were made cards were always getting larger caps, so why limit.

Care to post what brands of 64gb will work? My SanDisk doesn't and I'd like one that does.

Reminds me of all those comments about RIM failing PlayBook customers because they dared to put out a device which couldn't be rooted.

This comes across pretty hack man..."I was fully aware the phone didn't officially have a quad core processor but I was really surprised when the official specs were actually true"

With any phone or camera it is not good practice to insert a card that is larger than rated for the device. The way the firmware in the device works with the card will determine if the card can be seen or not.

There is also the fact that with older SD cards in newer devices the card may not be reliable. This has to do with the compatibility standard of how the function calls are done by the firmware that is operating inside of the internal controller of the card.

I would suggest to get a new card that is recommended for your phone.

I think the dev alphas' have 16GB internal with a microsD.....but we won't truly find out the specs until January 30th.
