Not me . . . yet. My friend's BB 9930 just bricked on him. Verizon agreed to overnight him a refurbished 9930. He said he needed a reliable phone and asked how the BB compared to the iPhone. Next thing I know he's being sent a brand new iPhone 4s as a replacement for free.

I don't plan on switching from my BB, which I love by the way, but I think I would be hard pressed to turn down a free iPhone 4s as a replacement should my BB 9930 brick on me.

Sounds like a step down, Verizon traded a phone out for me once (pre-blackberry) and it was a step down from what I had.

Too much bad press coming from the carriers RIM needs to pay more attention to these issues.

When my first 9900 bricked after a week, I didn't want that to happen again. I considered buying out an Android phone on my carrier, because I read that there were lots of BB7 phones bricking, and I'd didn't want to have another phone die and have to activate another. That was back in November, and I am very glad I stayed with blackberry everyone I knew were going from their year old blackberrys during and after the few day blackout, because they thought their phones were wrecked(I know too many idiots) and they had gotten iphones, which have been replaced once or twice since they got them, because they go to parties and drop the phone. When they were rocking the torches and the holds. The phones would rarely break. I think blackberry will have a bright future with BB10 and the future of the PlayBook.

Canadian RIM's customer service sucks... so don't even waste your time. RIM should learn from OtterBox and Apple customer service!

I wouldn't accept an iphone 4s for a replacement. The 9930 just makes my work life so much more efficient and productive. It's not the right device for everyone though, so hopefully your friend is happy with the 4s. I wouldn't be.

Do you know what OS your friend's phone was running? It sounds like OS 7.1 has fixed the bricking issue, although it's not confirmed. When he gets his new bold, make sure he upgrades to 7.1.

    Same here.

Would get the 4s replacement. Sell it for a quick buck as there are lots out there who would get/buy a 4s in an instant, specially a new one.

Then, purchase a 9900 and have some extra change for accessories or maybe coffee and a muffin to cap my good decision

Yep. I use the Torch 9850. Then today I picked up my wife's 9930; the one I gave her when I moved to the Torch. I started typing on that keyboard. I was like wow.... I had forgotten just how great it is.

RIM, as in the past, refuses to even acknowledge that there IS a problem.

This is just like the stuttering keyboard.

Believe me with the number of devices that have been sent back to them, they KNOW they have a problem!

Well since I just bought a playbook I made your -1 a 0. So no big loss.

I have been holding off on the 9930 because of the Bricking posts too. But they seem to be a thing of the past forth most part.
