    Default Returning from Android

I went Android to Galaxy S 2 back in February. At first I was very happy. I had a change in position where being "connected" wasn't as big a deal and the phone was fitting my style.

I played lots of games, had some fun apps, and in general enjoyed the device.

But then people were complaining of call quality. I started having major stability issues. And then I got promoted and my life went to because my phone was actually causing me to be less and less organized. Mostly for how it handles email, tasks, and appointments.

I got so incredibly frustrated I went out and bought a 9900 cash.

I feel like I've come home after a long trip. My productivity and my mood has skyrocketed. I feel like I'm organized again. Why did I ever leave? Almost all of the apps I used on a regular basis are here on the 9900, and then there is the email, tasks, and calendar that just can't be beat.

I'm looking for a few things though. My galaxy had apps for tracking sleep habits, the photography golden hour, a weather radar map with alarms for rain/snow, and a photography app for depth of field. I'm looking for suitable replacements.... If anyone could help me that would be fantastic.

Back to Black...best decision I ever made in the phone worldm

Beweather is what everyone uses here. It even displays the info on the home screen. An Android phone connects you to apps, the BlackBerry connects you to people.

The only app I've used and can recommend is BeWeather.

For Depth of Field you can try this: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/37516/?lang=en

Just do a quick search in App World from your phone to see if any apps work for you.

The 9900 is an awesome phone! Welcome to the club!

Welcome back! Just wait for the iPod touch line to be updated with a better camera and get one as a 'toy'/camera device.

This way you'll get what you want/need from both platforms without sacrificing productivity.

Grab a PlayBook for extra apps, sideload the ones that are android only, and then you won't need to worry about weighing down the 9900 with anything but communication, productivity, etc. PlayBook is a STEAL at most places right now. Sell the S2, and by a PlayBook.

Welcome Back, I'm here from Droid as well.

I did the samething but came from windows phone which was okay but just didn't fit my basic needs like blackberry does.. So I got a brand new bold 9900 and I'm very happy with my decision... Typing has never been so easy.. But my only pet peeve with bb is the native email app doesn't handle HTML email very well.. Basic email is great but anything with pictures just looks out of order or don't even come up at all.. But other than that I am a very happy camper.. Email is not that important.. I mostly use my bb for phone calls, text, social networking and calender organization.. Love it!

The reason why BB default service doesn't download images automatically is SECURITY a bigger IMAP client would be cool.

Try email*++ and you will get perfect HTML mail with your images straight away...

Actually, it handles HTML emails very well. The default setting on Blackberry is to not download images for security purposes.

To get around that, you can manually allow images from the options menu, or you can use the app called "Show Me the Images"

This app downloads the HTML content automatically without you having to allow it each time.

I've used Show Me the Images since OS5, its great!

I have the exact same experience... only I had a stratosphere in an attempt to remain with a keyboard.

The stratosphere broke (I physically broke it by accident).

I went ahead and bought a 9930 with cash and was ecstatic to be back with a productive too.

I was getting to be ok with the stratosphere, but I am utterly convinced that there is NO WAY to get basic tasks done as quickly as can be done on a BB.

It will be great to see what a 4g blackberry 10 can do!

I used that (show me the images) and that does not work on all emails.. I realized that RIM does not let emails over 300k download to the blackberry.. So it's RIM limit on the blackberry that doesn't let the full HTML email come through.. For example I got an email today from progressive and the email would not download, the whole email was a HTML email and when I pulled it up on my iPod touch the whole HTML email came through but not on my bold9900.. Like I said no biggie though not really complaining..

I have a similar story. I went Android in December (Droid Razr) and at first I was happy. But then I just didn't like the device. So I traded my Droid Razr for a Bold 9930 and I am very happy. I have all the apps (and games) I need on my Bold, though I would've preferred a Torch 9850 (no good offers ). BlackBerry is a perfect match for me. It is just a pleasure to use and it makes me feel as if I'm professional and part of an elite group

Anyways, The Weather Channel app has all the maps and alerts and everything. As for the photography, I can't help you. Don't use any of them. The camera is fine for me as it is haha.

I've never had that problem. I receive full HTML emails with no issue. You should check your settings and make sure you have Show Images for All and YES for downloading full emails.

This is something that I also find in my Skyrocket.

There are momentary freezes. Apps refuse to connect even on 4 bars. If it doesn't find a signal it locks down and I have to reboot.

    And the terrible battery life.

I love my Skyrocket, but not its idosyncratic behaviour.

Curious, what does bb do that Android doesn't? I've owned both (9930 and many Android based pbones) and I keep hearing people here say how they feel so much more connected on bb. I will give the 9930 credit on being a fantastic feeling phone...one of the best I have owned, however I never found one thing the bb did that Android didn't do better or quicker with a MUCH nicer screen to boot. Whatever your reasons, glad you're enjoying your new phone and feel better about your purchase.

I can tell ya that after coming back to blackberry from iphone I will never go back unless I am forced to. When I left blackberry the first time I didnt really know how to use it as I wasnt a crackberry member at the time. Goodness, I didnt even know about the desktop software to sync it to itunes and back it up.

Now if I were to leave Berry I would know all that I was losing. I would lose my .net email. I would lose my unhackable phone. I would lose BB protect. I would lose my saved emails, password keeper data, BB wallet, tasks, memos, the list goes on. Moving to another phone would be the equivalent of intentionally installing a virus on my computer that would delete all of my data. Why would I do such a thing?

Android phones don't have the LED notification light. That and the multiple email folders on the home screen are what keep me with BB.

Not quite true. No such thing as an unhackable phone in the consumer market.

Much much much less likely, but not unhackable.

    This is subjective.

I can tell you that the native profile settings on a BB are better. I could tell you that BBM kills any other messaging app I've tried. I could tell you that I much prefer that data compression means my device sips data as opposed to my Skyrocket. But those are all preferences. As such, they are personal.

I would never trade my Skyrocket for my 9900. I've got both and I much prefer my BB.

That is personal and therefore subjective.

Yea, I suppose I shouldn't have used the word "better", but the word "quicker" is not subjective, therefore I equate quicker with better in my book. I just don't understand all the "this is the best communication device" talk...what does that even mean? I can shoot out a text/email/call quicker on this phone than I ever could on my 9930...AND I don't have to squint to do it. You do make a good point on data compression...that would be the only real advantage of blackberry that I can think of, but a good one at that.

Hi, this actually might be my first post on Crackberry!

I switched to a Galaxy S2 about a year ago. It's a great phone for a lot of reasons but now (especially now that I've got a PlayBook) I just want to carry around a BB phone to let me stay connected @ 4G/H+, with great battery life that I can pair with the PlayBook when I want/need the bigger screen, apps etc.
