I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this but.....I'll ask anyway
My wife uses my old 9700 and I'm trying to get her to upgrade to a 9900.
    Will a 9700 back-up restore alright to a 9900? It has os 6 (something).
I know back-ups are only data so, I'm thinking I should be good.

Yes you can restore the back up , BUT do not fully restore it with all the options. Only keep the basis from custom restore

Be warned that if you restore everything including settings, the phone may get messed up. It happen to me once.

This is why I posted this. I've used device switch every time I got a new berry.
I used it on my 9800/9810 and my 9810 got real wiggie on me.
I wiped it with BBSAK and just loaded email, etc....& it all seemed OK after that. Then I side loaded a bunch of stuff. All's well!!! Thanks for the input peeps...
