visit here to see how to disassemble your 9900..

Blackberry Bold 9900 / 9930 How to Disassemble / Take Apart / Teardown - YouTube

it's easier to just memorize where the keys are...

that's what i do... just memorize each key location ; >

yea, I'm scared i might damage the phone while replacing it.. but it would be so cool to have the actual korean keyboard. if i bought the actual Korean version, would it work on the Verizon network in the US?

Likely not. I'd verify that the CDMA 9930 is available with the Korean keyboard, and that it isn't a GSM 9900. If it's a 9930, then call VZW and ask about activation before you purchase the Korean version.

don't do it. unless you can find the korean keyboard+membrane together.

I'm still trying to find out if its possible to dissemble the keyboard+membrane to put on the new keyboard.

Hey, i was thinking of replacing my QWERTY with a QWERTZ.... but i was wondering, if it would change the actual input? Because right now, even with deutsch input, the layout is always qwerty. Drives me nuts!

Is the input layout hardwired to the physical keyboard?

Yeah I had the same question - how to put he keyboard back on the membrane. I have yet to see anyone successfully connect the two together. Unfortunately, it seems only the keyboard is available.

It's funny that I read this post today as I actually swapped out my keyboard. I've done this many times on the 9000, but this was my first time on the 9900. I checked out Youtube but didn't show how to swap the keyboard out so I just took a gamble. You can learn how how to open the phone on Youtube but then you're on your own. Keep in mind that you need to unfasten the back of the trackpad cover to take off the membrane. After that, it's easy fixings. It wasn't too hard even though I had no clue how to do it. Here's a pic of the final. Good luck!

Ok, here goes...

You will need a T5 screwdriver to do this. When you order a keyboard, they'll usually send you one for free.

1. Go to Blackberry Bold 9900 Teardown Directions by DirectFix.com - YouTube and learn how to open the phone.

2. Pry the bottom cover with a pry tool or a small screwdriver.

3. Unscrew the two T5 screws. Keep in mind, breaking that white sticker will void your warranty.

4. Take the keyboard off gently while unhinging the connector that is attached.

5. On the back of the keyboard is the back cover of the trackpad. Gently unhinge the cover so the trackpad comes off with the membrane.

6. Stick the membrane and trackpad on the back of the new keyboard and you're done!

7. Put the phone back together.

FYI, you might want to order a new bottom cover; one that is completely black without the AT&T or Verizon cover. It takes about 5 minutes tops. I did this while entertaining a guest at home.
