Im also sure parts wholesalers will be selling the replacement blank piece soon. It should be as easy to replace as the 9700 series was.

the penny worked because of the material the logo was on. Don't know if it will work the same on the 9900.

I am using a 9900 too. The brand name is not on metal like my 9800. So I'm a little unsure bcos the brand name on 9900 is on plastic.

Not the bezel. I've dropped it on the pavement enough times to know.

Perhaps, that's one part I haven't fully disassembled yet. But everything on the base unit is plastic, including the trim part where carrier logos are placed.

Just tried the penny and caused a little too much scratching for my liking, so I stopped after removing the "S".

Guess I'm a "Roger" customer until the blank parts are available...

I just did it on my new 9900 lightly with a coin and it came right off with no scratching of the plastic underneath at all.

Im surprised how easily it came off actually.

Tooth Paste will remove logo also! We use tooth paste at work to remove permanent markers from chalk boards at work! I used finger nail polish lightly and then applied tooth paste to get rid of the ghost image. She shined right up! I am so proud!
