Reloading BB handled OS on 9900 using bbsak
Guys I have a Rogers Blackberry 9900 bold which I wiped using bbsak ver 1.9.2. now it didn't say low level wipe just came up with all data will be erased. I did it, and then upon reboot It went to a black screen with error 507 which indicates no OS.
I then wanted to load the ATand T version and when I did that it still boots up with Rogers wallpaper indicating its using the rogers image, and I also used T-Mobile and same thing?
what could be going on.

Ditto & ditto. Except for the Rogers part.
There's nothing in the OS that identifies it as being a particular carrier's. The Vendor file checks, but it stays on your desktop too.
All OS's are made by RIM. Saying a carrier "released" an OS is a misnomer; the carrier is merely endorsing it.Saving the world, one OS at a time...

ok so what proof can I use to verify that I am actually installing the at&t carrier os and not the factory rogers os? I read that if I delete the vendor and device.xml files I can then do this.
my main reason is I bought a second hand phone off someone and I want to complete wipe the phone and ensure there are no spyware or crap lefter over. what would be the best way to ensure the hpone is complete wiped clean and factory fresh?
thx guys. - 01-17-2013, 01:25 PM #6Bold 9900 on Vodafone UK running BL Ultimate Hybrid RC15 on Do Co Mo .923 Base and .sfi

ok perfect I have already done this but everytime it kept coming up with the rogers splash screen and the stupid rogers shoping cart icon making me think it didn't wipe properly.
so I see error 507 I can be sure that there is no more spyware or hidden apps running the background like gps tracker etc. I might be paranoid but I don't want any residue from the last user.
thx. - 01-17-2013, 01:33 PM #9Bold 9900 on Vodafone UK running BL Ultimate Hybrid RC15 on Do Co Mo .923 Base and .sfi

thanks guys just doing it first tiem so didn't rreally know. I assume this is different wipe then the one done from the handheld itself?
thx - 01-17-2013, 01:48 PM #14
Yeah, a Security Wipe just deletes your email accounts, contacts, apps, data, settings, etc. A device wipe with BBSAK or similar app removes everything. It's not really necessary though, as your device is automatically wiped to 507 error when performing an OS install.

thanks I noticed bbsak 1.9 doesn't say low level just all data will be erased is this same as previous versions of bbsak? I guess as long as it comes up with 507 error I should be fine.

Didi you, after the wipe and OS load, restore any personal data, through Desktop or BB Protect?
