Maybe a silly question, but I'm new to blackberries and have found myself a few times now wondering how the heck do I dial a number on this thing that uses letters or words in the number for ease of memory/dialing?

Ie. 780-KICK for a local radio station, or 1-800-ROGERS, etc...

Dial 1-8-0-0 or whatever the number prefix is.
When you get to the letters, say rogers, type the letters rogers and hit the send key

Hmmm... The moment I hit a letter that's seperate from the numeric keypad, my phone is no longer dialing a number and instead searching for a contact that doesn't exist because its gibberish...

A you can see from the screen shot, don't pay attention to the universal search, just make sure you have digits and letters and then hit the send key, it works.

Are you dialing from the home screen?

If you are dialing from the phone screen, then dial the number normally, but press and hold the Alt key for the letters.
