    A few days ago my 9930 model Blackberry stopped working and gave me the following message: "JVM error 545". After going to Verizon wireless (my cellular provider) I simply asked them "I need my contacts!" and their respond was that they don't have any way to recover my contacts since my phone doesn�t properly fully start, and especially since I did not have recovery assistant.

    I still have not updated my phone, hence the problem still exists. I have not update my phone�s software since that would most likely delete all the data on my phone.

    I am extremely desperate and am willing to do anything to retrieve my contacts, even if I have to send my phone across the globe. Help or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

    have you tried to connect it to a PC to see if you can back it up with desktop software?

    Did you have BlackBerry Protect up and running? If so open BB Protect and install what you desire. Works great
