After a few days, started getting a weird problem with the signal... it would drop down to 1 bar, and basically I'd have no connection to internet at all. It would continually transmit but nothing would ever be received (as indicated by the arrow in the top right continuously pointing up and to the right, and never down and to the left).

The only way I could solve this was restarting the phone or turning the network connection off and then on again.

I'm probably going to downgrade to .391.

I've been using the 7.1.0.437 "hybridized" OS courtesy of zocster for 4 days now. Thanks! No problem regarding my BIS, network coverage, mic, gps, mms, etc.

In my case, I have noticed great improvement on my phone's responsiveness and browsing speed. It is superb! Rebooting speed is average, not that fast compared to other OS i have tried before. Battery greatly improved, i guess. MeterBerry recorded that i have an average discharge rate of 1.4% per hour during idle (Twitter, Facebook, BeWeather and some apps working on the background).

I'm just wondering why my phone already prompted me twice that the usb port is not capable of charging the device when in fact, i'm using the original charger. Sometimes, Desktop Manager 7.1 doesn't detect it too (i guess the latter is a beta bug and not with the OS). But both problems are solved with a battery pull.

In my case, Blink and other third-party applications are working perfectly with the OS including beta applications, all my apps seems to be compatible with it contrary to the previous reports of incompatibility.

NB: I did not wipe my device, i just upgraded the leaked OS 7.1.0.402 (which is a total disaster) via DM after deleting the vendor files.

I did not worry that it was released in China since i know it won't be interested in my data and network logs or my personal protest against them claiming an entire sea. Who cares? LOL

    Cool

    Hi Theire,

Don't listen to Phil, he must be having a bad day. Swap your SFI file in UMTS folder with (190) and re-unstall 7.1.0.437 and you will extend the life of your battery. If you use a combination of 3G and Wi-F I would use SFI file (318)

    Thanks

Fabio1, can you please elaborate? I wanted to get this but went for .428 instead due to some of the comments in this thread.

I have Tmobile also, so your advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,

I am on TMobile UK and have found that 437 has the quickest and fastest OS. Just update a few old apps in original install and you should be happy. I am also using Momax 1400ah extended batteries (others use ecell Gold 2430) 437 is the latest OS that will allow you to use non official JM1 battery. I am now close to my previous 9780 battery life

I would always install from Application loader, farther than desktop, and always back up first.

I have two 9900 phones, one belongs to my partner and each one is slightly differant, you are happy with 428 than there is no need to change.

If you don't trust 437 and you are general happy with 428, you can give 398 radio file a try, whatever works best on your phone/ carrier

    Thanks

Every OS I have used has allowed me to use a third party JM1 battery. Swap, decode, replace, enjoy. Habit of mine to be honest.

The whole thread of 19 pages is just about this...
You have probably noticed different opinions about this OS. I haven't tried it honestly. .428 is working great for me.

.428 is virtually bug free, whereas .437 is full of old bugs that were fixed long ago in other builds

thanks for your simple explanation phill ,

I can give you several... reproduce away

According to the version number, this is supposed to be a 'new' OS7.1 build, so:-

Why are all the app versions so old?
    Where is Battery Saving Mode?
    Where is the Media Server?
Why isn't the Hotspot SSID remembered after a reboot?
Why does the data arrows icon randomly stick?

To me 'new' does not mean reintroducing old bugs, including old apps, and removing new features.

The app versions being old is a puzzle,. Removing features may have been requested by the carrior,..

Other than the old apps it runs prertty good for me, I got one restart while looking at the pixelated avatars, but I can't reproduce it.

Those are the Bugs I'm worried about, things that can trigger a freeze up and restart.

Wipe, reload the OS, but with only the essentuals, skip everything but BIS data, BBM Groups/contacts if you use BBM, Calendar if you use it, Address book, Browser Options, browser bookmarks, options, icon arrangement and theme settings.

So what I do, it speeds things right up! Clean the clutter out and free it from the sluggishness and drainage!

finish reload to 437 from 391 last nite (my bb doesn't work well with 391, bad signal reception).

got stuck when restore bbm groups (maybe error from the carrier). try not using blink 1st, cause from my last experience blink always crash with some os7, ended up can't charging.

weird thing is this morning when the bb is in idle, it suddenly reboot. hopefully it's nothing.

do you happen to know which java from other os that can be swap with 437. i've tried 391 and 428 java and no luck so far (ended up with error 200).

again,I had .391 and the signal was H+, with this build its sitting in 3G. Is it purely esthetical? Ive heard some where that its purely esthetica

Does it really mean anything? Ive tried browsing a bit and the speed seems the same... would love some feedback, thanks
