    Default Can't update OS!

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I can't seem to update my OS using both application loader and desktop software. I have:
    - Installed the software device properly
    - Matched model (Bold 9900 and made sure I didn't download 9930)
    - Restarted my PC

When I run the desktop software:
    - Clicked 'Update'
    - 'There are no Blackberry® Device Software updates available' appeared
    - 'View other versions' option IS NOT visible, only 'Subscribe' and 'Cancel'.
    - In the 'Help' menu, under 'Installed Blackberry Device Software' the v7.1.0... is visible.

    In the app loader:
    - Deleted 'Vendor.xml'
    - In the 'Device Application Selection', only current apps in device are visible
    - No 'Blackberry System Software' and 'Blackberry Core Application'.
    - '9900M_v7.1.0...' folder is visible in the 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader'.

P/S: I did uninstall/reinstall both desktop and device software, uninstall/deleted previous update and still can't update my OS.

    HELP ME!

Be sure you deleted both vendor.xml files. If you're on windows 7, there will be two of them.

I have Win 7. I can't for the life of me find the second vendor.xml file. I also cannot find the search for hidden files and folders. Where would this second file be?

    Thanks

Happy to point you in the right direction, but the real thanks are due to Ubersurfer who developed this very useful tool.

After a week and a 3 days after installing 9900/7.1.0.318, these are a few observations.

    1. Radio is very good, no call drops yet.
    2. Phone turns very hot in 3G only mode.
    3. Shortcuts are a bit delayed. Programs launch after a small pause when the shortcut key is pressed.
    4. Saw 2 automatic restarts so far.
    5. Battery life is similar to other 7.1 versions. 205 gave me the best life yet.
    6. The new tweaks in mailbox views and message categorisation/grouping options are good. (Same applies to 342 also).
    7. Sunlight/touchscreen issue is zilch in this version atleast.
    8. There are more black clocks (timer) in this version than the 342.

    I'm using airtel 3G вв BIS.

been using this for a few days and i can say i get better battery life on 318 compared to .342. Must have been the radio file that was the issue.

wasnt bothered doing a radio file swap so i wiped and installed this. didnt want anymore issues and to waste more time.

so far im happy with this build as it is stable and solid for me. im a medium to heavy user.

Was on 342 for 1 week, dreaded it due to the radio.

Been on 318 for exactly 1 week now + a total of 8 battery pulls altogether. Very stable, no issues so far, love the radio (lesser fluctuations) and battery for 318 > 342 by approximately 15-20% (i have / had the same apps installed on both builds). No dropped calls also unlike 342

2G/3G lasts me approximately 8-9 hours WITH LOCATION SERVICES set to ON.

2G/3G lasts me approximately 10-12 hours WITH LOCATION SERVICES set to OFF.

2G lasts me approximately 18-20 hours WITH LOCATION SERVICES set to OFF.

Generally my daily usage would be approximately 30 - 45 mins of total talk time, 10 - 15 sms'es, regular whatsapp/kakaotalk/bbm, and 20 - 30 mins of web browsing. I use my blackberry solely as a communications / business device. Backlight set to 50% all the time. I hardly snap photos, take videos, view videos, or listen to music on my 9900. I don't tweet, i don't fb, i don't tapatalk, or use any maps application on the 9900.

Love this build so much that i won't be upgrading to newer builds anytime soon. I'm not even going to try 402.

The reason why I will not install any new OS in the near future [I'm running .318]:
Don't think it can be any better... [bellow are idle discharge rate]

.318 is the golden build without doubt...=)

Just updated from the factory OS that came with the phone. I have also noticed battery life improvements. However, the charging logo (thunder bolt and black plug) issue is present. To elaborate, when fully charged and plugged in, either the thunder bolt icon stays on or the black plug icon is missing (no icon at all).

Don't charge your phone until you hit red/yellow, then this problem will go away...

I have updated to this version the second day after I got my Bold. Primary because single reports saying it would fix display peoblems under sunlight as well as superior battery life. So far it works quite well for me, though there are a few things I'd like to share which seems buggy:

    1)
Sometimes, while browsing, the device simpy goes to standby. This sometimes even happens while I'm scrolling. The only thing to prevent the unwanted process would be pressing one of the physical buttons - the trackpad for example.
I can't really recreate why or how this is happening.

    2)
When there is a bit more going on like browsing, BBM, writing some notes, going back to the homescreens makes the application icons disappear. They'll reappear once I resize the bar or open the full application bar. So this is not a real problem, but something buggy still.

    3)
Under direct sunlight, I think my screen behaves definatly awkward. Sometimes scrolling is delayed or not as smooth as usual. However I can not really confirm this. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me.

Overall battery life seems to be good. The device lasts very well for a 12 hour day. Sometimes I still have 20-40% left at the end of the day. Having said this I'll need to add I'm working "on the road", so signal quality is varying heavily and is rather poor than decent. This always puts heavy pressure on your battery.

Can anyone comment on how accurate the gps lock is on this build. Just tried to use blackberry traffic for the first time in a while, first time while on .267 and its way off, and that's when the gps actually turns on.
