Official OS 7.1.0.318 for the Bold 9900 From DoCoMo Japan
This version got problem with non-genuine battery. After upgrade halfway, it detected and showed battery with RED cross. Ver342 didnt happen this. Original battery is ok. eventhough decode back also cant reuse.

Installed last night after a wipe of .342 which I found to be a bit "sticly" and had a high memory footprint (for the browser at least which was not releasing memory and held 120MB constantly). A bit early to provide feedback on this build. Need a few days to gauge. Memory footprint definitely smaller than .342. Signal strength looks a bit weaker though.

No issues with batteries what ever regarless of it being OEM or knock off watson brand I brought in from overseas.

seems to work better than 342 for me.
No blackberry protect issues like 342 for me or anything like that.
Could the radio version of this build be different?
It seems to have less signal fluctuation, in turn reducing the battery consumption from the consistent bar-hopping and 3g/edge switching.
Anyways, I'll take it. - 04-01-2012, 09:30 AM #14
How is it supposed to be "for good now" ? As for me 2G consumes lot less battery. Because I live in Vietnam where BIS network is not very good so the device needs to scan the network all the time meaning when you use 3G/4G (on ATT) it consumes lot of battery life.
So I think when you want fast speed you choose 3G/4G - when you don't, for example you only chat then 2G is a great option as it eats lot less battery.
No? - 04-01-2012, 09:35 AM #15

Two days on this build, and for sure it works better than 342 for me. Haven't noticed any differences except Much better battery life.
With 342, when all day on a move - a huge drain when driving. On high-way, going up to near 10% per hour sometime. With 318 the drain with similar, on high-way conditions, goes to 5-6% per hour at maximum.
More regular usage, when base stations not changed that often, drain is ~4% or bellow - 04-01-2012, 10:56 AM #17

Are you sure? Because in their latest 7.0 version (don't remember ecxactly the ROM number) they still have the 2G choice, how do they remove it from all 7.1 ROMs if they are 1) from other carriers , 2) leaks?
They cannot tell other carriers or leaks to remove it in the ROM? Because the hardware is unchanged right?
Or are you telling that AT&T ask RIM to remove the AT&T 2G feature completely in any 7.1 ROMs?
Because I dont get how they keep the very same hardware and remove the feature? Esp. when they have not yet released their official ROM? I used to think they modify the ROM from RIM in order for their 2G option to be switchable, this feature has disapeared in 7.1. ROMs (other carriers & leaks - no ATT yet!)

If you dig in the alx files, I bet you could get this changed. I am pretty sure those mobile network options aren't a service book provision, but a vendorID provision.
One of the ALX files might have the option limited to specific vendorIDs, so if you change them, it would work. That's all contingent upon these settings being defined in one of the alx files though. - 04-01-2012, 04:31 PM #22
Is the availability of the 2G/3G/4G software switch not limited by the service books your provider sends out to your phone when the phone is registered with the network?
Would that not explain why some people have it and others don't, in spite of using the same OS? - 04-01-2012, 04:34 PM #23

Humm interesting yeah that could be. Yeah its a Joke that the other carriers have it but AT&T wants to be the pain and remove this feature looks like I'll be be keeping my 7.1.0.74 since its the last OS i've found that still has 2G manual selection mode for my AT&T 9900.

How is that 7.1.0.74 version to be "buggiest"? Could you pls explain?
How is it in compared to the latest official AT&T 7.0 version?
Anyway maybe AT&T will release its official 7.1 WITH the 2G selection available? Who knows? Or you guys have sure info that AT&T would remoive it for ever?
