Default OEM Power Pack - Battery issue solved.

Bold 9900/9930 Power Pack case i purchased from India. It's an OEM piece from Blackberry. Wanted to share it with you. It's very helpful! Works like a monster and my phone stays for more than 24hrs without charging. The only bad thing about it is the mini usb jack. It bugs a lot in the pocket.

I was on a work trip to India, New Delhi and i found it in the duty free. There was a shop that had a lot of things for Blackberry phones, iPhones etc. Will do a review soon
And it's found also in Dubai. I will remember exactly the name of the store or website and will post it as soon as i remember. Cheers.

Well yes i was surprised that no one knows anything about this product and also that it's not on BB's website or CB. It's amazing but it doubles the size of the phone honestly. But yet very helpful.

    This is HUGEE

Seeing that it more than doubles the phones size and wieght... Why not just carry around an extra OEM JM1 battery.

    Seems more logical to me!

Just a heads up, but having the phone battery being charged constantly by the case is going to increase the battery degradation...

Doesn't it stop charging at a certain point, and therefore not be detrimental to the health of the battery? I might be wrong, some one correct me if I am.

The issue isn't that it over charges, it's that keeping a device connected to a charger all the time will decrease the battery health, same with a laptop if you leave it on the charger 24/7.

The battery will sit in a stand by state with a full charge because it's always plugged in to another power source.

What you're saying is correct but this case is a bit smart. You plug in your device in the case and then charge your case + phone through a mini USB port on the bottom of the case and once its fully charged the blue bulbs at the back flash. When you unplug the USB cable it starts with the Phone battery and when it drains you click on the button on the back of the case to activate the battery built in the case to start charging the phone. So it doesn't keep charging the phone. You have to click on the button first to do it.

    I think it's smart.

Are you sure this is OEM? Looks like a third party manufacturer. It doesn't have the look of an OEM.

Plus its not available on blackberry sites.

Don't think it's designed as a extended battery, rather than a portable external charger like Duracell etc sell with the added bonus of been able to use the phone while charging if needed. Ideal for those that are on the move away from USB or power.

That is a purely awful design. Why in the world would they use a USB connector? Why not use the charging contacts on the bottom of the phone and eliminate that unsightly and klutzy bulge?

Sherif, I believe u live in Dubai.
Well i've seen a similar case that looks nicer and doesnt have a USB sticking out (it uses the bottom charging heads). It also around 150AED and is definitely not OEM.
I will try to see if there is something similar online to share with everyone, if not i will go snap a picture of it and share it here

    Cheers,
