So I got a refurbed 9900 from Best Buy and have it mostly set up...but I get no system sounds at all. This is my second 9900 so I know about profiles and how to set them up...it appears to be something deeper than that. I can get music to play if I set it on handset, but still no system sounds. Any ideas?

Are you able to set any of the music mp3's as as ringtone? If not, I'd take the refurb device back as soon as possible. I expect it has a limited warranty, and you may need an exchange.

According to the cellphone guy at my local BestBuy, the speaker on my new phone is defective. So much for a refurb. I'll play with it a little more but it gets returned for a refund on the weekend unless there's a miraculous resurrection... At least I didn't get it off Kajiji

Since you're able to play music but not system sounds , it 's not a speaker problem....
Just get it exchanged .

How much do they sell them for ?

I believe I paid $229 for it. Unfortunately Best Buy is sold out of the refurbed 9900s. I'd happily buy a new one at full price...

Oh and the music plays through the front handset. speaker, not the rear speaker...
