New Bold 9930 owner coming from a 9650

What's up got too anxious to get a newer blackberry that I couldn't wait for a Q10.. I'm liking this phone so far definitely a big step from the 9650.. Just want to know any tips or advice for the 9930

Hi, I cannot help with your question but I am sort of in the same boat with you - I'm using a 9350 and waiting for a 9900 to arrive in the mail this week. So excited! Good luck with your new phone

I made the switch myself a few weeks ago. 9930 is much faster, way less laggy. So programs like Tapatalk actually wprk! The touch screen is nice but honestly in my opinion not a huge advantage because there aren't enough apps that make use of it.

Yes, but being able to work faster and such makes up for a lot.

Why would you only use the touch sceen for apps. Like you, I initially didn't use the touch screen much coming from a 9700, but after a few months I now use it all the time. Its so much quicker to navigate. It also saves ware and tear on the track pad. Scrolling through emails is a breeze as is using Facebook etc.

Try to stick with using the touch screen and very soon you will find the track pad only useful now and again.

Having said that, there are times when I couldn't do without it.

I use both equally.

See the touch screen is a captive touch screen, meaning like iphone and most droids, it uses the electricity in your skin to activate it, it cannot be used otherwise.

I work as an Armed security officer, and a lot of times im wearing gloves *to either protect myself from blood born pathogens or just for warmth*.

With iphone or droid i would have to spend 40 some odd dollars to buy "special" gloves to use my phone.

Not with the bold :-) when im gloved, i just use the trackpad :-D when im not gloved i use the trackpad and screen on and off without even thinking. It has the best of 3 worlds bundled into one :-D

congrats, I've had the 9930 for about a year now and have to say its one of the best phones I've ever owned. the keyboard is one of the best I've seen, blackberry world every once in awhile refresh updates sometimes don't come up until you do.
If you have a BB playbook, your gonna find the bridge app is great and the 9930 and PB are an awesome pair.

I love seeing all the love for the 9900/9930's here. Just got one yesterday after years with iPhones, and despite some limitations from adjusting, I am just loving the Bold. It's so sleek and sophisticated looking and an excellent communications device. And typing on the keyboard is awesome! Feels good to be back to my smartphone roots with Blackberry

This phone is amazing, not once since having it have I had and issue that was not fixable. I love it and I'm sure you will too. I was going for a panda 9630 and I put a white 9900 keypad on it prolly soon get a white battery door.

My suggestion would be to make sure you turn off applications all the way with the BlackBerry key. "Close" or "Quit" are normally at the bottom of the list. If you press and hold the BB button it will show all applications. There should be 5 running all the time (Browser, Home, In box, phone and BBM). The browser might not be actually running, but it is a multi-tasking link.

Making sure that unused apps are off will save battery life. Also, turn off wi-fi when not in use.

Not much of a learning curve, most of the stuff is the same, the one thing you do not want to do is try to remove the micro sd card without removing the battery first, it looks like you can do it, but you can't, trust me, I learned the hard way. There is even a psa CrackBerry Kevin did on this, I have a 9650, which I keep as a backup.Enjoy your Bold.

Everything except the camera & Podcast subscription on the 99xx is a huge jump up from the 9650...
...Those two things are miles behind the 9650.
....The typing on the 9930 I have is bar none the best experience I've ever had on a phone.
