    I am hopefully get my bold 9900 soon and i just wanted to know if there are any steps to take in order to avoid any future problems with the phone.

    Get a case. Update the OS. Treat it like a baby.

    Congratulations for 9900.
    Upgrade OS and visit BB app world and see if you fancy some apps.
    Screen protector is must.
    If you want you can use silicon case.. But I am satisfied with default holster.
