You won't unblock the 9720 simlock in the same way like other BlackBerry. I assume the only way is to pay for this.

Problem is you need an unlock code.... use to be dozens of websites setup to provide those for a fee. There are still a few, but their ability to unlock BBOS phones is rather hit and miss at this point as they can be other issues. I would only buy a second hand phone if it were unlocked at this point.

He did confirm he was still doing codes via PM back in November last year but as you say he may have stopped now. Worth a try though.
