Default Need solution to sync contacts (only) between BB9900 and Outlook 2010

I apologize if this question has been asked before; I did a search and couldn't find something specific to the problem I'm having.

I am connected with my university system via BES. Outlook calendar and e-mail sync with Blackberry without any issue. I learned recently that there is no support for syncing of contacts. My recollection is that this used to be possible -- I now have an Outlook address book and BB address book that share several hundred contacts, but more recent entries are either in Outlook or BB, but not both. As you can imagine, this causes problems for me. I'd like to be able to enter an entry in one and have it accessible to both devices. The university has made clear that this will not be possible through BES (I asked three different people).

My first thought was to do a wired sync, but don't want to break the BES link. Is there some workaround or 3rd party solution that would allow me to get what I want without having to double enter contact entries?

Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

i would say that deskop manager should handle this but BES might prevent it from working. Hopefully someone more versed in BES can give a better answer.

And what sort of account or email id is associated with Outlook? Does it have a server you can access?

It's my university e-mail address, accessed via Exchange server.

I'm not sure I follow the recommendation - I have unique contacts in Outlook and on BB that I want to see reconciled on an ongoing basis. I want to see all contacts in Outlook because it's where I process much of my work, but am off-site often enough that I want all my contacts with me easily through the device.

On your blackberry, you need to a.) Make sure your BES contact list is set as the default (normally called "Desktop") and b.) Make sure Wireless Synchronization is turned on.

You will then have a 2 way wireless sync of contacts between your blackberry and desktop outlook client.

I am on a BIS plan but I don't think you can have both wireless sync and desktop sync together

He was told he couldn't sync contacts via the BES...so if the BES policy is set as such, that will not work wirelessly. He has to sync the contacts via Outlook /Exchange using a cable. He can still use the BES for Calendar and E-mail, while using a cable to sync the rest. @ the OP...you can select what you want to sync via cable once you're in the DM.

You can sync with BES and Outlook together...it is possible.

Thanks for all the input, everybody. I will try cable syncing contacts with DM as a next step. Right now, I'm playing around with Xobni, which seems to give me access to the contacts I need on the BB.
