My iPhone fanboy friend wants to BE BOLD
One of my closest friends is embarking on a 10,000 mile scooter journey on a 50cc scooter through the USA, Canada and Mexico to benefit 3 very worthy charities.
He is a crazy, loyal iPhone fanboy, but when I demonstrated how vastly superior Blackberry Traffic was to what he was PAYING BY THE MONTH FOR on his iPhone, he began lusting for my Bold 9900. Since he will need to do daily WordPress posts on his blog, a physical keyboard will be a huge benefit too.
I suggested he inquire about being one of the "Be Bold" "Do What Your Love" case studies. I don't know where to start, but I really want to get this in front of RIM's marketing folks. Check out the website for the trip and see if your don't think this would be an awesome "Be Bold" story. PM me if you have a good contact.

This sounds like something RIM would want to jump all over. Give him a 9900 and a playbook, load his m up with great apps and a fee year of service from some provider if he blogs and videos his adventure.

Sounds great as long as he's not pasted by a Toyota Yarus Being Bolder.

No really I hope he makes it and helps the charity.
Maybe start a blog about him being bold and ask CrackBerry members for support.I

Hahaha, thats pretty good! Probably a better chance of having an intact screen by the end of the journey, too.

A documentary film perhaps??
There is some early discussion about the making of a documentary film. If this happens, we plan to ask Mariska Hartagay to narrate since the Joyful Heart Foundation is her baby. I will get this to Crackberry Kevin. Like I said, there has never BEEN a bigger Apple fanboy, but as soon as I demonstrated Blackberry Traffic next to his $8.95 a month iPhone app (which was awful), he was sold.
Get the word out crackberry fans. 6 degrees of separation and all. We can get to anyone.Last edited by scootnyinzer; 04-01-2012 at 11:49 AM.

He will definitely want a chase vehicle on the south western leg of the route. The Sonoran Desert (as well as Nevada) is nothing to take for granted. Also with the drug and people smuggling trade in the border regions he will be in some of the most dangerous parts of North America. Best to have the Mexican authority from the region involved with high profile coverage of the trip. Not to be a downer just an FYI.

We've got a video editor lined up and plan to enter the Be Bold video contest. We will use a Playbook to capture the raw video and iMovie to edit it. Believe me, if I could talk him out of going on this batsh*it crazy trip, I would. I'm sure he will find a way to get through the desert, the mountains and dodge the drug cartels, whether by escort, chase vehicle or whatever.

I think this is a great idea for a marketing campaign. The notion of real people doing real things with Blackberries is a good one to capitalize on.
This is an area of corporate social responsibility RIM needs to get serious about.
RIM needs to look at the positive impact it is having on the communities to which it sells. - 04-02-2012, 06:49 AM #20
Good thing he's starting now. Things can get pretty crazy here in the winter, especially Northern Ontario and the prairies! He would not have a good experience on his scooter then!

50cc scooter, 10000 miles sounds fun. I would love to do something like this in the future. But probably not on a scooter, a 200cc honda phantom more likely. I'm a little worried about mountainous areas though., and whether 50cc would be enough.
This reminds me of the top gear challenge in vietnam with motorcycles. Just a lot more insane. All the best to your friend, OP!
