    Hi there,

I am really happy with my Bold 9900 now with my extended battery. This was was always a great phone, held back by a 1230ah battery (shame on you RIM)

Sorry for posting this again, but I now so happy with my phone and I just want to share my happiness. Stop waisting time going from one OS 7.1 to another, just get a Momax (1400) or Gold ecell 2430 (1400ah) battery and you will feel free and liberated.

I purchased my two Momax 1400ah JM1 X PDA batteries direct on ebay and have been testing them for 14 days now and here my conclusions.

The batteries arrived within 8 working days from Hong Kong

They were very well packaged and complete with decoder, full instructions and warrantee

They are around 1.5mm thicker than original batteries, but fit snug inside the original battery cover.

Cloning the batteries was quick and easy, less than 5 secs.

The batteries were tested on 7.1.0.190, 7.1.0.205, 7.1.0.267 and 7.1.0.437 with no problems, they did not work on 7.1.0.402 or 7.1.0.428, These are the only OS7 softwares I tested?

The batteries took 3 full charges to reach peak, 3-5 days after a new software install.

The batteries have been hard booted 10 times and softbooted 15 times and have never had to be recloned!

They are now giving around extra 3 - 4 hours of heavy use a day, and around 35% extra standby time, now getting the same life as my previous 9780

    Hi there.

Why should we have to carry a spare battery or charger for a phone that cost 500 and that could and should have had a 1400ah battery in the 1st place

New Curve 9920/9930 mobile, and which cost 150 comes with a new 1450ah JS1 battery, need I say anymore!

I might be crazy but 1400/1230 = 13% greater capacity. Would like to see the performance over time, I've seen third party batteries degrade pretty quickly.

Regardless, happy to see you're getting great numbers out of them now, fingers crossed that it lasts!

We would not have to use aftermarket batteries if RIM would design the new JS1 1450ah battery to work with 9900/9930. Nothing wrong with Momax, a top company with R&D department. The Chinese are now up there with the Japs

    Thanks

I guess because I like the 9930 and I've been carrying a spare battery since my Motorola grey brick days, so I guess I'm OCD about having a fully charged battery at all times. I'm just glad these batteries aren't nearly the size as their predecessors . Oh yea....I don't have a "curve" so it really doesn't matter

I agree with you on this one. I'd really like to knock on the head of whomever's idea it was to use a 1230mAh battery in the first place. I guess they finally realized that the 1230mAh is unacceptable and deicded to go with the 1400mAh battery for the newer, but non-flagship Curves.

    2) link to that OEM battery and external charger combo for $12?

I admit, RIM dropped the ball concerning this type of battery for such a powerful phone. If the BOLD 9930 wasn't such a great device I probably would have returned it instead of dealing with a little inconvenience

Good to hear OP. I've seen even bigger aftermarket batteries somewhere for Bolds.

I'm going to buy a second JM1 in case I get stuck.

Does anyone know if that 1400 JM-1 battery which you were discussing in this thread, will fit the Bold 990/9930?

In this day and age, it's almost crazy that we need to walk around with an extra battery?
Chargs for homes, offices, cars and that might be enough for me.

But, I gotta say, I like shopping for the accessories as much I as do for the phone!

Hey spencer noticed on your screenshot earlier your gps is active. When I surf and or download or stream with my gps active it will cut my battery life in half. Options/device/Location Settings. Turn it off if not needed. talk to you later.

I agree, it's KRAZY to carry an extra battery this day and age, but it's easier for me to carry a battery then wires and plugs (charger). I guess I'm just use to it

The new JS1 1450ah battery does fit the 9900 pod, if you give it a tight push. The pins are slightly skew but they line up, problem is that X shows up on boot a they cannot be cloned.

If RIM had slightly modified the new JS1 1450ah battery for the 9900/9930, we would all be happy, they must be sitting on a pile of JM1 stock, or contracted to the supplier?

Either way I feel sorry for every 9900/9930 buyer who is stuck on OS 7.0, and is not tech minded to be able to upgrade/ test OS 7.1 and or radio files.

I was a strong fan of Nokia phones N86-8 was a great phone, until I was let down badly by crap N97 (smartphone) and the poor E5 work mobile on holiday, I then switched to my 1st BlackBerry phone a 9700.

The moral of this story is that most BB users buy in to BlackBerry for BBM, Email, Messaging and SMS, plus reliability and long battery life. Most of the guys that I know have moved away from 9900 due to poor battery life and lack of apps, some have even gone back to the 9780.

I tried the 9800 when it first came out, gave it up due to poor battery and upgraded to 9780 (the best), tried the new 9360 a few months ago to replace my 9300 work phone, and again gave it up due to crap 1000ah battery and went back to my 9300. I have just tested the new 9330 with new 1450ah JS1 battery which is good for me and will now replace my 9300.

How could the tech guys at BlackBerry decide to sacrifice the battery life on the latest new handsets, and give away one of the strongest selling points of the brand on a Qwerty handset. When you visit a phone shop, the first question customers ask before buying the 9790/9900 is 'how is the battery life like on these phones, I have heard they are poor' need I say anymore!

I just hope that some Tech guy at RIM is reading this thread and that they don't forget about their 9790/9900 flagship phones in pursuit of BB10. I would gladly buy the JS1 1450ah battery if it worked on my 9900, however RIM prefers me to carry an extra JM1 1230ah battery around on my body and also keep a charger in every location including the toilet

If any of you would bother toying with your settings .. You'd be able to make your battery last for 15hrs on very heavy usage like me / end the day with 10% left

What is the secret tip, leave it on 2g and turn it off? We are now moving to 4g, not going backwards, what will happen when NFC is common place?

The secret / half the day I'm on wifi, my backlight is on 10% instead of default 70% and think that's all I really did -- battery lasts from 4am I go to work I'm on my phone all day long (instead of working LOL) and then once its 7pm I gotta put my phone back on the charger // & I'm one of those guys that CAN'T stay off of my BlackBerry

So, throttle the phone to get the performance it should have out of the box. Not everyone has access to wifi all day.

    Hi there

That's good if your at work/Home, but if your out and about, in and out of train stations and taxi's or out on business or holiday sight seeing your f*cked. Just came back from trip in Tunisia, could not even get a power point in a cafe, my 9780 would have lasted to next day

Thank god for my Momax 1400ah battery, getting the same life as my first 9700

It takes less time to change a battery than to boil a kettle. If a JM1 lasts 10 hours then two would last 20 hours for the seasoned insomniac.

Battery life hasn't been a problem for me. If it was just get a second JM1 instead of Chinese after market batteries and have 100% extra juice.

I don't think you know the true meaning of throttle. Dimming backlight and using wifi isn't throttling. If he said use 2G then that would be the proper use for bashing about throttling.

If your not around wifi all day usually means 2 things. Your in an office without wifi so you can plug your phone in.. Or your on the road like me and again you can plug your phone in. I'm sure your not away from a power supply for 12hrs straight. Only takes 30 mins (lunch break to get about 50% charge into the phone

So, throttle the phone to get the performance it should have out of the box. Not everyone has access to wifi all day.

Why do you assume that Original batteries are the be and end all, most batteries come out of China or Japan. As long as they are made by a reputable company such as Siedo or Momax there is no problem!

If JM1 1230ah battery is not a problem, why have they introduced a JS1 1450ah batteries for a basic 9220/9230 Curve?

I think it was this thread that someone said about these Bolds being 500 phones...I just stick with OEM products. 1, they have got to be tested moreso I assume and be safer than others. 2, A second has 100% more life oppose to 35% extra of an after market battery etc. And 5, we can pick JM1's up anywhere ?

Btw my friend in Canada bought a second battery for her 9900. Instead of saying JM1 it reads JM-1 and is a different colour. I thought it may be a knock off but she googled it and apparently its an engineering battery. ???

I'll try and get some pics a bit later.
