switched to android for a week, it was the worst week of my life. phone was too big (4.6 inch screen), was frustrating to type or swype on as took so long and battery wouldn't last six hours even when idle. plus i missed BBM and all my friends. sold it and bought a brand new 9900 with the cash.
who cares that the other 3 blackberries failed me in the past! i'm never leaving you blackberry!
A blackberry truly is better device to get things done! I am the only one in the family with a blackberry and they are starting to look my way when they upgrade.
This is a prime example of people exaggerating or just plain full of crap. The phone didn't last six hours idle sounds like pure b.s or something was wrong like signal quality etc, also you need to take time to learn a new platform before you judge so harshly.

+1.
I always got a full day on my Androids & that was with heavy usage.
Funnily enough, I too tried using an Android. I barely lasted 30 minutes before I felt like throwing it at the ground out of sheer frustration.
BlackBerry OS just feels so refined and intuitive in comparison; I couldn't use anything else.

My little cousin 4 years old got a cheap Andriod Tablet and during setup I came really close to snapping it in half and giving her my PB. Andriod is the worst!
I don't know who would choose a droid over a blackberry UNLESS they had an old blackberry curve or pearl. All my friends say blackberry is crap but none of em ever kept up with technology. If you ask em which blackberry they owned they say curve. Smh..I'll take my 9930 over a iPhone any day of the week

Lol as if. I used Android in 2010 before I switched permanently to BlackBerry over battery life. SuperALMOED 4.6 inch screens take up a lot of juice due to the power required to light up the screen and then when you add in LTE usage + some syncing you get horrible battery life. Go away fanboy.
I am glad you are happy with this outcome. But I have some concerns. I have delayed getting a 9930 even though I am newly eligible to upgrade. You say you are on your fourth 9900? Can I ask in what time frame and what were the problems with the three previous phones? I have been very happy with my 9650 and very reluctant to let it go to upgrade into a platform with freezing issues, battery limitation, app shortages, and the full range of other issues covered in the forum. Now that the OS 7 phones will not be upgraded to BB10, I have felt more @ peace with delaying until BB10 phones come out. If you were in my place would you wait for the BB10 phones or upgrade now? What confidence can I have that even the BB10 phones won't be released with similar difficiences?
I've had my 9930 for 3 months without any problems. No freezing issues, no app shortages IMO, battery is fine. This has been a terrific device for me. By the way, I also upgraded from the 9650.

You really can't compare Android on a cheap device to Android on a flagship model.
Having used both, believe me Android is a wonderful OS when its on hardware that can run it.
Anything, including BBOS, will be horrifying on hardware that simply can't handle it. You think you can load OS7 on a 8330 and have a good experience? Just saying.
I have to wonder what the signal and settings were because I have sold a tonne of SGS II LTE and none have only gotten 6 hours of battery life. Sounds like a bad battery or improper setup to me (coming from someone who got 4-6 hours from their 9900 due to faulty batteries). I'd also like to know how long the SGS was given to settle in before being given up on, since like any phone the battery will suffer from OS settling, setup settling and charge cycle.
