The fact of the mater is that I trust Seidio, Mugen and Momax to deliver at least 90% of the claimed capacity of the batteries and in the worse case senario one would expect at least 1 to 2 hours of extra life from a 1450mah /1500mah battery.

Not saying not to buy it, but there have been some tests done showing the actual capacity vs rated capacity from said manufacturers.

The results weren't anywhere near 90%, not even close.

At least with a 3000mah battery you are almost guaranteed to get some kind of an increase.

This will help many with battery life. Added to the Mugen battery and a decent OS and you should have no excuses for poor battery life.

I managed to drain the 9900 battery 30% in 3 hours using the browser and streaming.

I don't think the resource monitor would help with the battery drain in this case.

Edit: No sense in waiting. I've been waiting long enough. I put my money where my mouth is and ordered one. Let's hope I don't get ripped off as I was when I tried to purchase the first 3000mah. I was supposed to have that order cancelled and my money replaced. Never happened. No money returned and no battery sent...

You won't need to decode this battery. I don't think anyone has received theirs yet as they were scheduled to start shipping 8/10. At least I haven't received mine yet. Looking forward to it though!!

Ordered one as well. At $40 can't go wrong. Says 10-15 business days for delivery, don't expect to get mine until the end of the month.

Either way, if this Mugen provides me with an extra hour or two of heavy use, I'll be happy. Still ticked at RIM for the teeny-weeny 1230 that comes with the 9900/9930. What a gaffe. A 1500mAh battery is what this phone should have to begin with.

BB10 phones better not have paper-thin batteries unless they're some sort of super-duper new technology that keeps the phone running for a cpl of days.

You can't be serious. You've swapped out four 99xx devices in the hopes of finding one that gets the same battery life as a 9700? Trust me. You can stop now. It's not gonna happen.

Discharge rate is clearly linked to signal strength. I'm running the same phone/os. I use Facebook once a day and don't use twitter. My phone is used for bbm, whatsapp, occasional emails and phone calls. I get no where near that kind of discharge rate.

Heavy bbm and whatsapp use will get me 10-12 hours tops. Signal strength is always good for me, but I don't spend the day monitoring it, so it may drop.

There's obviously many variables so comparisons are difficult to make.

Back to topic, for $50 you could buy 2 JM1s. Unless you don't have the space somewhere for a small extra battery or two, this can't be worthwhile.

JM1's are available for under $10 on Amazon so I bought 2 of them and always have a fully charged spare. Got a couple of extra chargers for cheap as well. Not many situations where I can't carry an extra battery since they are extremely small and lightweight.

Put yourself in my shoes, what the heck am i supposed to do? I like the extra power and features the 9900 bring over the 9700...but I keep reading wondrous stories from BB commenters here on Crackberry about how their 9900 battery life is pretty good.

Am I supposed to believe now that those guys who say they still have 30% battery after a full day of use are liars?

My first two 99x0 devices were verizon branded 9930 devices. One bricked. I sold the replacement after realizing that the 9900 series gets way more leaked firmware (and thus potentially more chance of a software fix for the abysmal battery life). My original 9900 had terrible battery life...dying by 12 noon after over night charging. And that's on the 'magical' .523 firmware that was supposed to have the best battery life ever.

After being told repeatedly by sneering crackberry posters that they had no issues with their BBs and that mine was probably a bad device, I bought a new 9900 yesterday. Rogers branded this time. Upgraded to .523 last night and did a device switch.

Enabled Blackberry device analyser and i'm seeing battery drains of 12% per hour.

Look, i'm still in the 'let it settle for some days' phase but i'm very very very unhappy and unimpressed with RIM at the moment. I positively loathe Lazaridis and Balsille for authorizing this stupidity.


If this does not work out well for me, i'll just resign myself to wait for BB10.
