Default Microphone not working during phone calls

    Hi Guys,

Don't know if anybody has come across this issue before, but I hope you can Help.

The Microphone does not work during phone calls. If I record a video, the microphone works and records.

I have checked and made sure the microphone is not muted during phone calls, searched everywhere for any other options. Re-installed the OS again. Still no luck

If the problem persists.... may have to get another replacement (Last one had an argument with the floor... and the floor won )

too, what model number is your device, please? the model number is 7 characters and can be found of the original box or the label under the battery.

fyi, I am running os7.1.0.437 with no mic issues. .391 reportedly works well, too.

Lots of people are havuing mic issues with OS 7.1 above .4xx on ATT. There are threads about this problem in the forums.

If not ATT then report your OS for more help.

in deference to your point, checked. 9900 was delayed due to hardware issues, not just att. from what I've found, there are no specifics regarding att's delay in adopting the 9900. there are a number of folks in specific areas using os7.1 with no issue. there are at least a few using older os7.1 releases with no issue.

considering the above, if what you say is true, there's possibly some correlation between mic issues and att device model numbers (there are 4: RDE71UW, RDE72UW, RDY71UW & RDY72UW). only have 2 model numbers, so far, both different.

lastly, as I tried pointing out earlier, the os7.1 mic issues are not isolated to the 9900. there are 9810 owners experiencing issues. so, for as much as you feel validated, your point is equally...invalid!

keep thumping your chest though! look forward to your continued interest and assistance on this.

It does seem odd that 99% of the people suffering from this issue are AT&T users and even odder that the problem seems to be regional.

Mic problems with OS 7.1 - straight versions or hybrids

Is it a case of a batch of defective hardware distributed by AT&T to certain areas of the States ?

Seemingly not as the OP in the thread linked above had no problems where he lives but got the issue when he changed location.

Logically it would seem to be related to the AT&T network, but as to why, greater minds than mine are needed to supoply the answer.

7.1.0.437 is the way to go

AT&T 9900 here and had mic issues with most .4xx+ builds with the exception of this one. Because I've been so happy with this os, have not upgraded since.

    MA (Northeast) USA

There is discussion whether it's AT&T specific hardware or geographic differences. While the jury is out, I CAN say that I had the issue before with other builds, and never once with .437.

You won't have that issue with .437 because it's such an ancient build, it's verging on OS7.0
