Mastercard NFC approved, how to set up?
"Two BlackBerry models — the Bold 9900 and the Curve 9360 — have been approved for MasterCard near field communications payments.
The two devices join the Samsung Nexus S 4G as the only mobile phones that interact with the platform. However BlackBerry maker Research In Motion claims that the two phones are the world’s first SIM-based smartphones to receive such certification. If you have any of the phones and are approved by MasterCard, you can make a payment by merely waving it before a PayPass reader.
PayPass is now available in 350,000 locations including McDonald’s, CVS, Macy’s and Walgreens, but MasterCard hopes one day to integrate the technology into Microsoft’s Kinect so you can wave your smartphone in front of your TV to buy things."
Ok so does anyone know how to set this up set? Calling mastercard was no help the girl who could barely speak english had NO clue what the **** i was talking about and neither did her supervisor. - 10-27-2011, 02:49 AM

Nevermind found answer to my own question! But for anyone else who is interested here is the info.
"RIM currently offers two types of BlackBerry NFC phone, the Bold 9900/9930 and Curve 9350/9360/9370. The handset maker announced plans earlier this week to switch on the devices' tag reading and pairing functions in the next BlackBerry 7 OS update "subject to network operator certifications", via a new service called BlackBerry Tag, and RIM is also working with HID Global to add secure ID services to NFC phones.
The BlackBerry Bold 9900 recently received mobile payments certification from MasterCard, making it only the second NFC phone to be certified after the Google Nexus S. Other BlackBerry NFC phones are yet to be certified.
No launch date for the commercial arrival of the service is mentioned in the announcement of the strategic partnership. Reuters reports, however, that the service is expected to go live before the end of 2011.

Befdore it is approved and NFC is operational, all parties got to argue about who is going to profit from this new technology.

And AT&T will be leading the charge (bad pun intended).

I have a Mastercard... is there any way to set this up? Or is it not available to the public yet?
EDIT: Nevermind, I found that it is only being tested by a select few, not available to the public yet.~SaMaster14 - 10-27-2011, 03:06 PM #7

^I have Visas as well, and actually use them way more than my Mastercard. I'm sure soon enough NFC will be available for all major creditcard companies. Should be cool!

I can't wait for this. I read somewhere (don't remember at all where) that in London most shops were getting equipped with NFC for next year's Olympics.

Google wallet supports Mastercards paypass and Visas paywave. ISIS also these 2 and the amex "protocol". VISA is incenting merchants to move to supporting NFC and EMV dual-interface chip terminals by 2013. The Five Year Plan from Mastercard Australia talks about at least 1 NFC-enabled terminal at every POS in april 2014. These are indications when we can expect a contactless payment option almost everywhere.
Looking at this, virtual wallet with credit card companies partnerships seems smart.
For now, we (BB users) only can wait. It's technical problems (teething) and negotiations. Many parties are involved, and everybody wants his piece of the cake.
Everything is just starting. I'm looking for owner feedback about NFC apps. (for my NFC-Phones website) Almost nothing to find. Reviewers don't try a Tag, pair or share feature because they don't have a Tag or other NFC device.
o.k. enough for today. - 10-28-2011, 08:49 PM #11
cut your credit card out and take out the nfc chip and slip it in the space between your battery and your battery door thats why they have that rubber attena looking thing there to give u room to put your cut up credit cards in

Google could have a longer way to become accepted for mobile payment because their payment is based on having the payment "cards" on the secure chip in the phone and not on the SIM.
BlackBerry, even that it has its own secure chip, is the only phone that is fully MasterCard certified to have the payment "cards" on the SIM.
Payments card on the SIM means money to carriers because they get money from banks when users download "Credit Cards"" to their SIM (SIM is owned by carriers).
So, currently every carrier in NA and Europe prefer BlackBerry for their mobile payment plans.BB10: MyProfilesPro, ShortcutMe 10, FlashLightPro, BBM Connected, NFC Enabled, Native Apps for Z10

That's freaking too far away!
I gave up on NFC right after I read this message from RBC after I sent them an email. So, I am looking forward to OS 7.1 leak for the wifi hotspot.Pearl™ 8130 > Bold™ 9700 (Unlocked) > Bold™ 9900 (Unlocked)

The phones just came out. What did you expect? RBC to suddenly change operations Canada wide so you can use your phone as your wallet? Haha. Seriously, give it time. BMO already has the NFC stickers available(announced before the release of the 99xx), TDCT is already working on integrating NFC enabled phones and mobile pay technology. Even some credit unions are looking to get in on the game. Less than two years from now, everyone will be able to pay using their mobile devices and NFC. I'd say the technology is moving pretty quickly already.
I just don't understand why some people keep bringing up who is going to charge what for the service. Do people not have debit cards? Where you suddenly charged more fees when you got a card with a chip in it? Are your fees being added to the current ones when you use a cred/debit card in one? No. You will be paying for the transaction, the delivery doesn't really matter.Cuius testiculos habes, habeas cardia et cerebellum...

Vijik; "Google could have a longer way to become accepted for mobile payment"
Right, look at France and the UK, Nexus S not available to participate contactless payment services. AND, you know, technically speaking, Nexus S also can support SIM-based secure element. Nexus S has embedded element and SWP, and and.
ISIS partnerships with a microSD (secure element on microSD) manufacturer. Interesting, isn't it?
MSS; "We have no plan to support NFC at this moment in Canada"
BMO customers can attach a tag to their mobile phone to make contactless payments at points of sale by simply tapping the phone against a PayPass reader. Once the purchase is complete the user receives an instant email verification of the transaction.
According to BMO, all purchases are charged to the customer’s existing credit card account. For purchases under $50, no PIN, swipe or signature is required.
Change bank ? In general, there are different types of NFC-stickers. Some need a bluetooth Phone. Other stickers are the wallet and don't need a Phone. For more info; NFC Phones .org - 10-29-2011, 10:02 AM #16Cuius testiculos habes, habeas cardia et cerebellum...

Rostli is talking about those stickers that use Bluetooth as a communication channel between the smart phone and the sticker, while the sticker is talking to the point of sales terminals using NFC.
If you want to use those stickers, yes, you need to have both NFC (on the sticker) and Bluetooth (on your phone).Last edited by Vijik; 10-29-2011 at 10:21 AM.

Have you heard any more on this? I use both BMO and TDCT and would love to see this happen...ya I'm lazy. I asked my teller at BMO about it and she said that was crazy and it would be a long long time before we had that technology...LOL sorry to burst your bubble dear, but its here.

BMO finished their trail. Two mobile payment companies are doing closed betas. Nothing concrete yet. I suspect TDCT to be ahead of BMO. Short of waiting for a bank or credit card company to create an app, I don't see anything in the near future. The other way is storing your cc info on your SIM card, but that involves the carriers and they already get enough of my money, I really don't want to pay service fees for holding and spending my own money.
HID did release their SIO (Secure Identity Object) modules and people can port their security credentials on an NFC enabled BlackBerry. We have the payment system set up in Canada, but waiting for a uniformed and reliable delivery for it.
If you want to be placed on an nfc mailing list you can pm me, I'll send you the e-mail addy, you can just request.
