Almost any of those locking apps will work, but remember to unlock them and make your photos visible BEFORE you upgrade your OS, wipe your phone or downgrade the OS. Otherwise, you run the risk of losing all your photos.

I once used an app that added an extension to the end of the photos names and made them unreadable. I had to batch re-name them to recover them.
