| | Learned my lesson…
Dear BBusers,
Recently I went through a mobile phone rampage, 1 year ago I had an iphone 4, switched to BB9780 then decided to try Android and bought a Google Nexus following my lust I purchased BB9900 and now Iphone 4s.
The reasons I was jumping boats was mainly to test out different phones and their OS. Now I am considering purchasing AGAIN a BB9900… everyone calls me crazy here, sell an iphone 4s for a BB?
Well you know what..Iphone’s, Android’s etc market their smartphones as tools of productivity, entrainment etc, ALL NONSENSE..you can never be productive on a 3.5inch screen, fighting to distinguish Q from W.
Those phones are swamped with apps which provide minimal integration with their OS’s, well NO, we are physical persons, I need buttons and feedback!
You will learn to appreciate your BB if you follow the above pattern for sure, unless you like gaming(which I suggest a gameboy or ps vita), there is nothing better than BB’s RSS feeders and Email client, I can assure you on that, I work in a law firm and time is critical, I often get emails getting pooled instead of pushed, heck even if the emails are pushed it is hard to know it during a meeting due to lack of sufficient notifications!
We cannot afford to lose a client because I was looking on the stupid phone’s screen, BB Led solves that, easily.
Yes, the Blackberry OS needs optimizations, it is disappointing for such great devices to stall on software part.
Please elaborate. |

You nailed it actually. Something like your story is exactly how I ended up first trying and using a BB in the first place, and on top of that, I'm not a business guy and never liked "professionals" with suits and ties who feel they're above or better than others, which is exactly whom I associated BB with. I've had a total of four BBs up to now, and it superior for anything that doesn't involve games.
I'm of the opinion there is no stall on the software end of it, especially as of OS 7. Prior, my only complaint in that regard may have been due to particularly slow hardware rather than the software (how well would the Storm2 or Bold 9650, just to pick a couple out of my history, have done with a 1ghz+ chip instead of the 500some mhz chips they had?)
I get a kick out of those who insist keyboards are antiquated too. I would like to see them type a full paragraph blindfolded without making a dozen mistakes.

To be honest,BBs there are no business phones the BBs are also marketer for teenagers as well.
What makes the corporate world use them more than any other phone is the iconic design, security( no enterprise data is saved on phone) ,easy IT administration and also the damn LED notification, which is very discreet and non intrusive.
What bitters me is the fact that an 1mb application on 1.2ghz processor take 1 min to be installed, that’s why I am commending on software inefficiencies.
Looking to sell now the 4s for a BB9900 which is very expensive in my country.

So yes, essentially everything you do on BES enabled handset is recorded and essentially administrated.

As the OS get better and BB 10 is released RIM will win back a large portion of former BB users. I did the android thing and still own a galaxy tab but my main device is the bold.

The only thing which makes me think twice, is how future proof the Bold 9900 will be with all those software changes RIM is thinking.
I would hate to get stuck in BB7....

The reason why I can't go for an iPhone or an Android is the efficient physical keyboard. I have an iPod touch and my brother have an iPhone. No matter what I do I can't seems to get used to touch keyboards. I find I type far less words with touch than with a physical keyboard.
University I attend now have touch computers in some areas and I freaking hate it too. I always go to university libraries with physical keyboard because I have no freaking clue how to write an entire lab report on a stupid touch screen.

I too came from Galaxy Nexus and have not looked back. I had my nexus rooted, overclocked and running great, but I found myself tinkering with it more than I was actually using it. Androids are great toys for those that occasionally use them as communication devices, but they are not great stand alone communication devices. They are still too flaky and are nowhere near as smooth as the new Bold series.

Please elaborate. | You make a great point about effcient nature of the BlackBerry. I work in an office where I can't have my ringer on. Solution, I have BeBuzz, and it works great. It allows my BlackBerry to blink with a specific for every type of message I could possibly get.
(Although, if gives me a Pavel's Dog Syndrome, I associate all Hotmail with Orange...)
But I picked up my first BlackBerry in 2007. She was a WE 8830. And she was a Tank. Now I can't imagine living without a BlackBerry. I've refused upgrades to other platforms on the grounds that i love my BlackBerry.
But you made a Great Choice. |

one thing the iphone 4s excels at that no other device can match is multimedia.apple has always made that its highest priority.i still see no purpose of owning ipod touch when i can get all of its features in the iphone plus it comes with phone capability.how are people affording multiple devices is intriguing.unfortunately, i can only one.you are right that bb excels in productivity but apple will catch up sooner than later.must not forget about the android wizards.the galaxy nexus is a superphone. samsung strives further and further than apple and bb. will have to see how the iphone 5 shakes things up again like always.

Blackberry is different race. Don’t believe too much on reviews, specially those tech sites. They don’t have BB, they compare it with some android and apple phones and make judgement. They judge everything in one category. But BB is made for some different and dedicated task. If you happen to fall In this category you will like BB, if not bb is just another smartphone. I am bb user since 2007 and I am very happy, though I had some Symbian devices with me but BB was always my primary device.

Dear All,
I thought it is a good time to flashback, I can now confirm that I have not regretted my purchase of BB9790 even compared to the mobile phone ROCK STARS above, the best part of it is the design, stability and ease of use.
I don’t want to watch Netflix on my mobile a device, I have a TV for that.
I don’t want to play 3D games on my handset, I have a console for that.
I just want to read my email in real time and use a phone.
P.S. Keyboard is awesome – the battery though got a hit, I am hardly getting a full day.

ALL ENTERPRISE DATA IS STORED ON THE DEVICE, including the IT policies. I am a BESADMIN. We've been on BES since its inception through every release up until now. IT policies dictate what you can and can't do with the device. Contacts, e-mail, memos, etc...are all stored on the device and/ or the media card, period. You can do enterprise lookups remotely through the BES, but the data mentioned above is on the device at all times. It would make no sense to have a device that only did a remote lookup on every request for things like contacts / e-mails etc...
If you think that's how it actually works, you'd be dead wrong.
Perhaps you should do more research on BES/ BESX before you make these assumptions.
