Hi, wondering if anyone noticed that their keyboard is loud to type on? Especially notice the space bar being quite loud when I press it. Not sure if I got a faulty keyboard?

its mainly just the space bar. The keys all click, but the space bar echos. Will check to other units at work tomorrow.

I had a very tactile and annoyingly clicky Tour as a replacement, and I just had to get it replaced, which I did...

I hope this is not a sign of not very good build quality.

Anyway, I'm sure the phone is great. Enjoy.

Phone is amazing. Super fast and major jump from 9700. Just the keyboard to sort out.

Interesting to note, would you guys say the keys are stiff or more on the softer but clicky side?

they are stiffer not mushy but its really nice to type on minus all the weird noises. I'm going to go back to rogers and check another one see if it does the same thing.

be kind of a let down if they all do it. but i guess you only really notice it when its quiet. but its only like 5-6 buttons in the middle of the keyboard under trackpad that do it. so kind of weird.

I always turn all keyboard notifications/sounds off. If this is a mechanical clicking that can't be turned off, this could be a problem. Imagine a meeting/train/airplane/class full of people clicking...

    ...would drive me crazy.

Hope you guys are being overly-sensitive and slightly exaggerating because of "First Contact".

I LOVE my 9930, I only have 1 gripe; the feedback from physically typing on the keyboard is way to loud. Once 2.0 drops for the playbook I'd love to take advantage of using the BB as a keyboard for the PB. But there is no way I could take notes during a lecture this way without being a distraction, also using the 9930 while laying in bed next to a wife trying to sleep can easily get you in the dog house.

So my question is, has anyone found a way to mod the keyboard, or find any replacements on the market? I will probably take my BB apart in the near future and try to come up with some type of mod.

Doesn't bother me at all. Other people around me don't seem to notice it either. I'm sure your laptop or desktop makes more noise that the Bold keyboard. Does that bother you too?

    C'mon.

I never noticed anything until you guys started talking about it.
Just kidding. Yes I did and it is kinda loud. But it is still a wicked nice keyboard.

I noticed just now that the keys in the middle of the keyboard are slightly louder or feel a little more "solid". My guess is maybe more support behind the middle keys and less as you go to the outside of the keyboard (oe whatever sits behind the keys varies across the keyboard).

With that said, unless the OP has a funny/defective handset, this observations seems like only something a crackberry forum nerd would notice. The sound of the clicking doesn't bother me at all, I actually like it in many ways. This is an awesome keyboard!
