I have assigned specific ring tones for contacts under "Sounds for Contacts". This option works fine unless the phone is locked.
When the phone is locked the ring tone defaults to the standard ring tone, and the phone does not recognize the number
as being one of my contacts. It will display the number but not the name of the contact. Any ideas?

ANSWER FOR ALL TO SEE!

1.

Options>Security>Encryption >>> uncheck box next to 'Include Contacts'

PLUSES +++ special ringtone works all the time even when blackberry is locked!

MINUSES --- anyone can see your contacts when making fone calls if you allow calls from lock screen when fone is pw locked!

2.

To choose ALLOW or NOT ALLOW fone calls from pw lock screen:

Options>Security>Password >>> check or uncheck box next to 'Allow Outgoing Calls While Locked'

I am having the same issue and have tried what you suggested without success. I have tried removing all the spaces and characters as suggested in other threads and still no luck. The issue appears to only occur when the phone is locked and when the number of the contact is a different area code.

Any more suggestions out there?
