I Currently Have the Iphone 4S 32GB. Im thinking of getting a Bold 9900? Can anybody help me choose the best one? I know this is a blackberry site but please be truthful. Thank you.

The iPhone 4S also has one of the best cameras of any smartphone.
The 9900 lacks autofocus, so closeup pictures are not easy to take and get clear results.
The 9810 has a better camera than the 9900. - 12-27-2011, 10:53 AM

Really just depends on what you want/need.
If you need a keyboard + email = Bold
Everything else = iPhone 4S - 12-27-2011, 11:18 AM #7
I agree with Phil, definitely spend a few minutes with a BB before buying. I went from the original BB Storm to an iPhone, was very happy with my iPhone after a bad experience with the Storm, but then fell in love with my 9930. There isn't a better phone out there for e-mails and texting. The iPhone has endless apps and is fairly efficient (in my opinion), where the 9930 is very efficient. I think my bias may be in the fact that I prefer physical buttons to push, and I didn't realize it until I spent a while with this awesome device.

Hi Phill,
I can see that you are a bb expert!
Ok I am coming back to BB from a 2 months stay with ios5 and was going to wait until the 9790 drops here in the uk in a few weeks. BUT I am so excited at going back to be I think I cannot wait so I now have the chance to get a brand new from eBay for a decent price.
Do you think it is worth waiting for the 9790 of jumping onto the bandwagon now as just go for the 9900?
I did have one of the first 9900 here in the uk when they came as an upgrade but sent it back about 5 months ago as it would not maintain a signal and just don't want to encounter the same problems.

BB is a better "phone". I have had three different iphones and two blackberries. There are always pros and cons for both. BB always seems to come out ahead in being more efficient and a better overall device. productivity, quick calling, shortcuts, cool apps that make the phone quicker to use and more customized, be able to hear a speakerphone, be able to type numbers-symbols faster/easier, etc...etc.. then buy the BB. If these points are not of appeal to you then there might be some other points that will make the iphone better for you. I do wish i had the iphone 4s camera but would srill stick with the bold without a camera.

hockey and magician- as long as the phone fits the owner it's the right phone for you. I have tons of respect for the iphone. it's a great device-period. Whether it's the best device depends on what the owner needs.
BB is great for a lot of things for me. I don't play a ton of games and those that I do play are offered on BB. I wanted a phone that would be outstanding at email and text. With the BB I also get the added bonus of BBM. My hubby used to have the BB curve years ago. He went to iPhone and loves it. It really works for him. He plays a lot of games (this does not trivialize the power of the phone, it's just a big plus for the phone), is a photographer so really likes the camera, loves all the accessories for the phone, has an iPad (he's not impressed. lol) and a macbook pro (2 of them). So, if he were to say, " Should I get the BB 9860?", ...... I'd get his head checked. Not that the 9860 isn't great, just that based on how he used his iPhone, I don't think he'd be happy.
I love my BB. For me it's the great keyboard, email, messaging, BBM, intuitiveness of the OS, the multi-tasking, bridging w/ my playbook, screen clarity, size, built in profile management, and the bedside mode (he still hasn't found an app that matches the bb bedside mode). It works for me.
Hopefully you will try out a few phones in a store, do some due diligence on the specs* and find the phone that works for you.
*very important- don't presume that just because a phone has great marketing it will do the basic stuff you need. Hubby loves his iphone but didn't do due diligence on the ipad and didn't realize that as Amazon Prime members we get movies etc...and it uses flash. LOLFollow me on twitter: @vecharo

You really have to try them both, for even a few days, to make a fair comparison.
I carry both. But I'm also sick of my 9900 with running out of memory, hourglass pauses, having to reboot twice a day, etc. and I recently wiped my 9900, and only installed basic apps, as I use the iPhone for everything, other than to create emails, BBM, and actual phone.
My concern with the Blackberry, is its a go nowhere platform. There won't be any significant improvement for a year (BB 10), if in fact they can last to implement it.
If you can swing having both, that's really the best solution.
I've been searching for that "do all" one device, for 25 years - still hasn't happened. It's a fantasy - and a good thing - there always seem to be at least 2 companies that see things differently, and offer compelling competing options. - 12-27-2011, 12:40 PM #18
if you use your mobile for communication purpose then nothing can beat a blackberry and i literally mean nothing, its best for communication purposes. Best call quality, best speakerphone quality, outstanding signal reception and amazing battery life. Though 9900 has had issues with signal reception and battery.

if you use your mobile for playing games, using different apps etc than nothing beats an iphone.
now i think your choice is simple, b/w you and me i would say get a bb 9900 and also keep the iphone. And your life would be bliss. or a BB 9900 and ipad 2 combo would be great. - 12-27-2011, 12:47 PM #19
Totally agree. No matter what you get you will find yourself talking to someone who will point out that their device can do something yours cannot. If you really, REALLY, R-E-A-L-L-Y care...then you probably have the wrong device.
No one device does it all.

what is important to you?
since you have already tried both you should know what is important.
opinion:
myself it is the keyboard for typing and bbm, thats why i choose 9900. and it looks classy.
iphone. i dislike doing one thing at a time. touch is fine for calling but texting is slower
no iphone for me. i don't like being told what to do and being told it can do everything because it is apple. its a phone
its a personal preference

I have gone from the iPhone4 to the 9900 and only real regret is the lack of apps….
I had a couple that were really useful, a parking app for edinburgh and a speed camera app (Pocket GPS World). The other apps that I used, although better on the iPhone can be done in other ways on the bold.
I did however, buy a second handset, an HTC Desire S…. I use this primarily for tethering as it has all you can eat data, which I need for work but can use this for the apps I need too.
Perfect combination for me, Bold for email, BBM, calls etc…. use as a proper everyday reliable phone and use the Desire when im sitting on lunch/waiting at work for games etc.
