Im so sick of my iPhone 4 after downloading ios7. It so freaking slow with loading apps and browsing the internet. Do y'all think it would be going a step backwards to get a bold 9930(can't afford the z10/q10 at the moment)? I text a lot and use the internet on my phone quite a bit. Plus I miss blackberry even though everyone makes fun of me for that.

If you can get a 9930 for cheap and really want the device for the physical keyboard then I'd say it's a safe bet. Something to consider is that the Z10 will be getting a price drop within the next 30 days or so and they're already popping up for cheap on eBay and such.

If the physical keyboard is an important feature to you, then I'd say stick with the 9930 or keep your eyes open for a deal on a Q10. I went from the 9900 to the Q10 and while there are a number of improvements and the applications are far more fleshed out on BB10, I'd say if you were limited to sending messages and some web browsing the 9930 will be fine. The biggest gap I think between BBOS and BB10 that you'd encounter is the web browser, BB10's web browser really is fantastic.

I'm with you on the iOS 7 slowing things down though, my work iPhone 4S is a real dog after installing it. And damn it, I hate that washed out white look everywhere in the OS!

I got a 9930 a couple of months ago upgrading from a 9330. I too didn't have the $ for a Z10 at the time. The 9930 is still a great device being as old as it is. Additionally I have a old DROID 2which I play TV shows on. Other than the media my 9930 runs circles around most other phones in its class. T500J

Or get the z10 if you don't mind screen keyboard
The 9930 is an amazing device but everything new are coming to the bb10 devices

My 9900 was honestly about par with the 4S as far as web browser speeds. Some sites were faster on the 4S and others on the 9900. iOS 7 changes the game compatibility wise with HTML 5 support being better on the 4S now, but the 9900 is no slouch and honestly it's browser grew up a LOT in BBOS 7 & 7.1.

If communication is your game, I don't think the 9930 is going to perform below your ideals. Its fantastic in that category and really only lacks in 'app slickness' vs BB10 IMHO.
