I have only been on CB since April, but I have read enough to know the history of RIM/ML and BlackBerry. I have also kept track of the PassPort and the Q20. Now that the PassPort has been released and some early leaks about the Q20 I really don't know if I can part from my 9900. There is no faster phone on the market that can out type the 9900 with its ergonomic keyboard and track belt. Unless you are browsing the internet the small 2.8" screen is fine. Sure I would like a "little" bigger screen and and updated BBOS with better hardware.

The PassPort is way to big for me and the Q20 is only a Q10 with a track belt. It is not a retro or updated 9900. So if i can limit my phone to emails, texting and phone calls I think the 9900 can live a long time.

Will I buy a Q20? I don't know if I can get use to the straight keyboard and the other features that are missing. I do know I will have the 9900 as a primary or back up for a long time.

Seriously man, read the boards! It's not just a Q10 with a tool belt!

I'm one of the users that are still stuck in 9900 era. I have no complaints... compared to my Z30.. my 9990 still the best devices to hammer down words after words..

You know I do miss my Bold 9900...loved its convenience and form. But this Z10 I have been using is amazingly superior to the Q10. Don't miss that at all. I figured if I'm not going to have the tool belt, then let me try the Z and go with the larger screen. And you know, this keyboard really works. Plus I get the camera and browser I wanted on which the Bold was so limited. I don't do tons of apps so no big deal there. But you know, I'm not sure I've lost anything with the Z10 from the Bold (and I was pretty efficient with it). The BB10 system and updated processor has won me over. And as this is my in-between device until Classic comes out, I'm very pleasantly surprised and expect good things come out. If there was a way for you to pick up a second hand Z10, give it a whirl....

Seriously? I had 3 brand new 9900's and all three suffered from poor battery life. I had 2 extra batteries that I had to carry around to swap all in one days use. My Q10's are way superior for battery life. I purchased a battery bundle but. Have never used it except for swapping the batteries around so they don't die of neglect. I definitely want the Classic as it will be like the 9900 + Q10 all in one but better in every aspect except my pocket!

What features are missing with the Q20? Custom profiles and full featured keyboard shortcuts are also coming. Probably alot more to come.

Hi MR4aces, i agree with your comments will the new Classic/Q20 equal the 9900 ?,
time will tell best to wait a few months and see if build quality is good and no keyboard
problems and price will come down, will i give up using my 9900? only if Classic proves
it's worth doing so if not i have a new spare 9900 and batteries in reserve,
many 9900/9930 will still be in service for years to come and why not?.

Gotta say i've just bought a 9900 in white which hey isn't the best colour but the best blackberry i've owned in years!

Finally seems RIM managed to nail down the build quality/software issues that earlier blackberries have been prone to, its soooo easy typing on a 9900 as the ergonomic qwerty keyboard is really easy to use & has a nice feel on the fingertips. Although the phone is slim it still feels kinda chunky & robust & has some weight to it which I like.

Doubt i'll ever get rid of it or if I do upgrade in future it'll still be around as my spare phone for yrs yet. Only moan is that the white version is a ***** to keep clean, tiny marks etc show up instantly Apart from that its amazing

but my 9900 is now just a backup device i use on wifi and because i do like playing with it occasionally. do you know why my 9900 is a backup device when theres nothing wrong with it and its as good as its ever been? because the q10 is better!

I purchased a Bold 9930 after my Q10. The Q10 is for work with all the bells and whistles, and the Bold is my personal mobile -though I do synch work mail on it to keep in touch just in case. It's great for messaging. The form of the keys and the layout of the keyboard just let you type away. I use the Bold really only for BBM, text-messaging, Twitter, email and of course calls! I'm looking to upgrade from my Q10 to the Passport (I've had time to play around with the Passport and it's simply mobile magic!). Nevertheless I'm keeping the Bold. I don't think I'll ever quit using my Bold 9930 either!
