    you should turn your device upside down and downside up (imagine playing with a toy spacecraft) when moving it in a figure 8 direction. oh and, stay away from metal objects.

    Keep turning it over in your hands ie flipping it over in your hands. If it still doesnt calibrate then it could be a faulty compass sensor so get it replaced.

    My phone compass wants to be calibrated every time I launch compass or wikitude. Shouldn't it remember the calibration settings?

    Have you tried using the same method Bla1ze shows off in this vid:

    It's the easiest way to get it calibrated.

    Like ray said, figure eights slowly. Works for me everytime.

    i have the same problem.. it seems to work when i do the figure eights, but it asks me to recalibrate every time i open the wikitude browser or compass.

    It will do that every time to be accurate. Its not a one time procedure. If you pull a standard compass out of your pocket it will spin a few times before it finds north. Its the same w/the magnetometer.
